College football categories

Hi there! It looks like you're helping to create categories for college football teams. That's cool. A couple of things: We've been trying to limit the category to schools with at least three players, or we leave them on the Football players from small colleges article. Not a hard and fast rule (see the Air Force category), but some of us want to avoid swamping it.

The other thing is that when you create a category for players, you should also create a category for "(School) (nickname) football", which should feed into a category for the school itself. Generally, we put the school article under that category, and any other obvious choices. This way, when the basketball category is created for the same school, it'll feed into the same place. Somebody'll probably do it for you if you don't, but please do if you feel comfortable doing so. Anyway, thanks for participating!--Mike Selinker 04:58, 18 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cat:Living People

Hey Packerfan, I've noticed your large amount of effort and work in making NFL Player stubs. I've got one request: could you category the ones who are alive under [[Category: Living people|Last, First]], so we won't have to go back and add it all over again? Thanks! -- Jjjsixsix (talk)/(contribs) @ 04:32, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are

Wikipedia:Image copyright tags
and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. Vikings helmet image

why did you revert Image:Minnesota Vikings helmet rightface.png back to the 05 image? Smith03 05:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I reverted the image back to the 2006 version. The new changes on the 2006 helmet are subtle, as lines are drawn to make it more 3-D. However, I will upload the old helmet logo as Image:Minnesota Vikings helmet old.png so it can also be placed on the Vikings page. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 05:19, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey I like the new Bears uniforms that you uploaded, but do you have the orange/white combinations? Another thing, is there a way you could have at least 2 of the uniforms on the same horizontal plane instead all 4 going up and down vertically? Thanks for uploading Image:Devilrays.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

Thomas Anthony Hollowell

So how does your article about

T.J. Hollowell (or the spaced version someone moved it to)? Seems to me that this would call for an explanation—assuming it was intentional and not a typo or something like that. Is he also Thomas A. Hollowell? T.A. Hollowell? Why are those as well as Thomas Hollowell redlinks—they should at least have redirects, shouldn't they, or at least most of them. I don't know anything about him, but you probably know or could find out enough to straighten it out some. Gene Nygaard (talk) 01:03, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply

You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. File permission problem with File:Amerrittrush81.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Amerrittrush81.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter
    here
    .

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at

Wikipedia:Image copyright tags

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
