It seems distinctly suspicious, though, in the light of recent revelations about the Irish laundries, that he was honoured with the Pope John XXI Medal in the same year the censored book was published, after which he apparently felt no need to fill in the blanks... However, I expect that this connection has not been made in print anywhere. The Vatican's motivation, at least, seems abundantly clear! IMHO.
