An extended welcome

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw your request for advice [1], and didn't see any responses, so I thought I might be able to help.

If I could get editors in your situation to follow just one piece of advice, it would be this: Learn Wikipedia by working only on non-contentious topics until you have a feel for the normal editing process and the policies that usually come up when editing casually. You'll find editing to be fun, easy, and rewarding. The rare disputes are resolved quickly and easily.

Working on biographical information about living persons is far more difficult. Wikipedia's

Biographies of living persons policy
requires strict adherence to multiple content policies, and applies to all information about living persons including talk pages.

If you have a relationship with the topics you want to edit, then you will need to review Wikipedia's

Conflict of interest policy
, which may require you to disclose your relationship and restrict your editing depending upon how you are affiliated with the subject matter.

Some topic areas within Wikipedia have

policies and guidelines
.

I hope you find some useful information in all this, and welcome again. --

April 2017

Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Murph9000 (talk) 14:12, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply

Please look carefully at page history when reverting

Hi there. When you reverted a change at the above article, you actually reintroduced the problematic content (which I have now removed). The IP user added it and then immediately removed it. Because you only undid one revision, you added their content back into the article. Please always look at the page history and make use of the diff links there to check. Thanks. Your email

Your statement "if you haven't socked for at least a year, you may create a new one" is not based in reality. You cannot edit here, under any account or IP, unless the block on your original account is successfully appealed. You are not eligible for a "clean start", ever.--Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 15:49, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
