Welcome!
Hello there! I see you're new to Wikipedia so welcome!
I saw you're comment in the Hubert Schiffer talk page. You're right about the article - it is rather confusing, having a description of the event and then a few contraditions in the subsequent section. I added some more to it, but it's good that you're going to try to improve it. By the way, how did you come across the article? It's a rather obscure topic.
Since you're new, you might want to see this

Three Came Home
Nope, the article is still a stub. It's a stub article until it gets more detailed information and becomes longer. If you want an idea of a start class article, take a look at an article in Category:Start-Class film articles and at: Category:Film articles by quality. The quality category gives a detailed explanation of what makes an article a certain class. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I will get back to you as soon as I can. Charlie Chaplin
Yes but all of his films were produced in the US, which would make him an American actor, Greta Garbo wasn't a US citizen during her film career but she was still credited as one. Gemini86_618 07:42, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- This sounded strange to me, but although Encarta describes him as English the Britannica Concise Online describes him as "British-U.S." The main Britannica article says he was a "British comedian, producer, writer, director, and composer". The case of Rosejpalmer 06:42, 7 October 2006 (UTC)]

Re: Battle of Borneo
Looks to be off to a good start. The main thing to keep in mind is
- Thanks. I'm working on sources but this will take time, working from a provincial public library. Perhaps I'll pop down to the British Library and register as a researcher; they seem to be giving those once-coveted library cards away to anyone these days. It's good to get a thumbs-up signal this early, so I'm very glad that you took the trouble to check that everything is ship-shape.
- I've seen those inline references in some articles, and must say that I find them very intimidating. I wish I could think of a better way of doing it, and one more suited to the kind of synthesis one must perform in writing a history (where the facts are usually easy enough to verify from the standard texts which can be listed at the end of the article, Britannica-style). I can see why the academic essay-style of writing has found favour on an open wiki, but I cannot help thinking that it's a little overkill for this subject matter andthis style of writing. We're not performing original research, so citing primary sources should be unnecessary. Anything that doesn't match the cited secondary sources, of that is contradicted in other sources, can be omitted or qualified (for instance: "the US official naval history reports that USS. Atlantis sailed from Guantanamo Bay on 12 April, 1923, but it is generally accepted by historians that, owing to bad weather, she did not leave port until 13th.")
- Well this is all a bit abstract, and no doubt future generations will appreciate our over-researching at this stage in the project. I do worry that the war of the Dutch East Indies and associated British protectorates is, even after five years of this project, not very well covered. Perhaps the bias of the project has been towards the Pacific war and in particular to allied victories. I suppose I'm doing a little to rectify this lacuna in our coverage. An exciting opportunity to get involved!
As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 05:08, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
