Hey Salman, wassup man? Wishing you a cool happy new year. Hope to see you active on Wikipedia soon. By the way, we (WikiProject Bangladesh) are planning to arrange a competition on finding wikipedians from University and College students of Bangladesh. You can be a part of it, as an organizer (I prefer) or as a competitor. Choice is yours. Visit this link to know more about this issue - Wikipedia:WikiProject_Bangladesh/Outreach. Working on Matiur Rahman

So, here we go! Our first target article will be Matiur Rahman.

If you have a look at WP Good Articles and Featured Articles, you can see many citations. Actually, citations and references are the key elements that make you to believe an article. Without having enough reliable citations, an article can not be considered as an encyclopedia article. Mainly citations can be of two types:

1. Primary Citation that is provided directly from the owner, such a university may publish a news related to their activity on their website. It will be considered as a primary citation.

2. Third Party Reference which comes from a third party about a person or an organization. Such as, Times magazine may publish a ranking where it place a particular university on the top. So, if you use that reference while preparing that particular university article, it will be considered as a third party reference and remember, third party reference is always better than the primary one.

Now the very next question comes, where should we use citations? At each and every line of the article? Of course not. Though there is no hard and fast rule but I always try to fit it in a regulation. From my past experience, I figured out that basically at four places we must provide reliable citations.

1. Claim - If you write anything that sounds claim, you must provide a reliable (preferably third party) citation. Such as, you are writing about an music album that became #1 in the US top chart. You have to provide a reference supporting this claim. Otherwise, someone else may remove this information (In general practice, it would be removed in a week at most).

2. Statistics - Any kind of statistics demands citation. In such case a primary citation can also be accepted. Such as, King's College London officially publish each year its student number and other statistics. You can use them in the respective article. Once again, a third party reference will strengthen its reliability.

3. Fact - You may write a fact in an article. Such as, Shah Rukh Khan was very poor in his early days and even he slept on the street on his first two days of arrival in Bombay. In order to establish this fact, you will have to provide strong reference. May be a biography written by SRK, or may be an interview or so on.

4. Quotation - When you quote from someone's work or speech, you will have to provide necessary reference. It may be a book or a speech from a press conference or such.

In addition, if you feel that at some other places article demands citation, you should go for them as well.

Now the question is, what is the relation of those stuff with our concern article. Answer is pretty simple. The article, Matiur Rahman doesn't cite enough reference. Your first task will be to go through some rich documents (I will tell you later) and identify the fact that what actually happened with him during the liberation war. Some confusions are there, such as about his death and other issue. You will have to organize those confusions as well so that a reader can get the whole picture. You will have to study his early life, childhood, education, professional life, achievements and other necessary matters that you feel to go through. While reading those materials, you will have to take note of the references. Finally we will organize them in the form of an article. Remember, we can not copy directly from any books or website. We will have to rewrite those stuff. But, I think that won't be a problem for us.

Now about the documents. In our university library, we have Mukti Juddher Dolil. It's a 30 part history contains every thing about our liberation war. You will have to search the index first and then study necessary stuff. In addition, there are some other important books related to our liberation war. I will try to collect a list and provide you later. In Humayun Ahmed Jochona o Jononir Golpo novel you will get to see many citations from different liberation war related documents. You can go through those books as well. In case you don't have that one, you just feel free to visit my home in Dhaka and collect it from my personal library. Besides I have a book in my library, Blood Birth of Bangladesh. You can find some important statistics there as well.

I think I have written enough. Don't get afraid! It will be our next three/four months task :-). So, let's start...

Cheers.

Pictures

I just came across you breathtaking pictures on

Rangamati District and St. Martin's Island. Beautiful, all of the pictures. It would be even better if you could upload these to Wikimedia Commons, the central repository for image and other media. You could also add to the Bandarban gallery there (and, oh, it would be very helpful if you added Category:Bangladesh to the bottom of the Commons Image description pages). That way Wikipedias in all languages, as well as the sister projects could use them. And, one little more thing - would you remove you name from image captions? Wikipedia doesn't encourage signing anything on article pages. Thanks. Aditya(talkcontribs) 15:27, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply
]

Salman, Wikipedia doesn't encourage its editors or photographers to place their names in the main article or photographs. But, it doesn't mean that Wikipedia won't acknowledge your credit. There is a special meta data filed at each picture file to hold author's name and a summery of the photograph. This filed actually acknowledge author's credit. I prefer you to place your name in the appropriate box. In case you face difficulties, just give me a buzz on google talk. Cheers -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 15:36, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please join WP:WikiProject_Debating. It's simple, just visit the page and place your name in participant list. I'll let you know updates later. Cheers -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 09:19, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request for your review

I nominated List of universities in Bangladesh on 25 March 2008 as a Featured List candidate. So far, four editors reviewed the list and requested significant changes and modifications. I tried my level best to meet all the recommendations. It would be really nice if you also review the list and place your opinion (support/oppose). I am looking forward to receive your comments and recommendations on the nomination page. Cheers! -- Niaz(Talk • Contribs) 10:49, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

guide to writing your first article
.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria

File permission problem with File:BYLC Logo.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:BYLC Logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. A tag has been placed on

section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing
.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ~ Nahid Talk 17:21, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
