Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at firstβ€”it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Happy editing! Cheers,

Afternoon. After a few years resting (resisting temptation - so long that I have lost my previous id and password) some entries caught my eye - I was researching Ogilby so his maps were interesting.
Ogilby's maps can be found at:

For Carmarthen to Aberystwyth, see:

Tyvm, that is a lot clearer than the Archive.org copy.
I admire your will power. I signed up many moons ago, just to correct one glaring error. The rest is history. --

Hi. I think "Ogilby" progresses well - & I see no clashes here.
I think the Ogilby spelling of "(place-names)" in the details of the routes work well - now these appear in a consistent format. Sc2 Scruppy Two (talk) 23:31, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The Philip Parker citation I've just added has some interesting details about Britannia that you may want to use?

Bristol

Hi, JMF: could I ask you for editing advice?

The wikipaper Historical urban community sizes has irked me for some time - it reproduces recent secondary sources that all have a major omission: Bristol has not been listed as a nineteenth century major urban centre. This is a significant flaw which has misled notable urban historians. To rectify this I have inserted a row and the appropriate data - but I cannot get the references to behave. How should I have done this? Scruppy Two (talk) 16:37, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You don't appear to have created named references "Latimer" or "Shannon"? --

Ah, found it. You have added the cited works in the bibliography so you need to use Harvard referencing to cite them. See {{
