There are a number of reasons for doing this, for instance it helps our readers find further information and allows them to check the veracity of the statements. Seeing that you come from Latvia I understand that you wish to improve the article about the great Latvian mezzo Elina Garanca. However, the metatext for the Garanca article specifically states: please do not add an infobox, per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Opera#Infoboxes
