Mistake.

Hi Susan. I hadn't realised I'd deleted something you wrote, and the IP has messed up formatting. Sorry about that. Roxy the dog 22:26, 10 December 2022 (UTC)

That's fine, what I said was just a response to that SPA anyway. So the SPA has reverted you again, that's two? I see Drmies has given a partial block on the AT page. Let's see what happens next. Getting out my popcorn. Sgerbic (talk) 22:31, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
um. I hadn't noticed before, by the golden apples of the sun. Ray Bradbury. + + Ray Bradbury + + - Roxy the dog 23:35, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Not sure what you are referring to? Please use the sun to enlighten Sgerbic (talk) 23:38, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
There is a pic of you with Ray Bradbury, a writer who I greatly admire. I'm gobsmackingly jealous. The golden apples of the sun are the first line of something that goes on to say "Something Wicked This Way Comes", the title of one of his best books. Haha. - Roxy the dog 23:43, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
Are you sitting down because the story is amazing of how this happened ... hold on Sgerbic (talk) 23:50, 1 January 2023 (UTC)

My boyfriend knew him, living in L.A. he had met him at some party and as Bradbury loves magic (as you probably know) the very first thing Bradbury learned was the ball and vase trick. Anyway, I had not met Bradbury but I was visiting LA and I asked my BF if he had seen this video that was all over social media about Ray Bradbury, Fuck Me, Ray Bradbury and Mark said he hadn't so we watched it and Mark said that we needed to show that video to Bradbury as it was almost his 90th bday. So Mark called him up and asked if we could come over, Bradbury's mind was wonderful but he was not able to talk and sat in his chair all day. So he did manage to communicate to come over at 3 that day. I was freaked out, but Mark insisted that all would be well and he made me take my ball and vase trick that I have never done correctly ever. Here is the video of me with James Randi with that trick[1] I was also wary of showing a video with that content to someone like Bradbury, Mark said it would be fine, but he didn't know for sure if Bradbury had internet, so Mark had me download it to my laptop. We showed up on time, and there was no place to really sit, Bradbury hadn't probably walked though his home for years, it was full of Halloween gifts. If you scroll down you will see photos from that weekend, it was 2010 and I had black hair then, looking now I can't believe that I looked like that. https://photos .app.goo. gl/ PcSKtQ5mEoTcqmdn6 (you have to remove the spaces in the link so it will work)
Anyway, I did the ball and vase (correctly) and then we showed him the video and I snuck a photo of him watching the video and then I think we might have shown it again. I had also gone to the bookstore before we got there and purchased a few of his books (I have a thing for autographed books) and brought them. I have a very good friend whose daughter has dyslexia and she learned to read for pleasure with one of his books, so I got a book he could autograph for her. He did that, though the ink in his pen was almost run out. We left after a bit. But I sent the book to my friend who freaked out and gave it to her daughter who freaked out. I wrote in the comments of the video that we had just visited Bradbury and shown him the video and Rachel Bloom freaked out and since then I have had a few emails with Bloom which is also very cool.
As we were leaving Bradbury's home some guy arrived who was working on a Bradbury week in the city, it was a very big deal at the time. Bradbury died two years later. Up until I turned 45, nothing interesting ever happened to me. The best years are ahead of me. When I someday meet you in person Roxy, I'll show you my ball and vase trick and sneak a photo, I know lots of people will be thrilled to know I met you.
I hope that story was worth the wait? Sgerbic (talk) 00:12, 2 January 2023 (UTC)
OK. Biting the bullet here... I'm very sorry about failing to respond. The first two days I forgot, but after that, I just felt like such a charlie, I didn't know what to say. Still dont. So I'm not gonna say any more today, cos I'm tired and emotional. - Roxy the dog 01:26, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
I went to a boarding school aged 11. To avoid bullies, certain boys read a lot of books from the small library of paperbacks when we were confined to the dorm at bedtime. I used to beat them up and steal the books.
They were highlighted by Clarke, Asimov, Heinlein, Silverberg and Bradbury, all pure science fiction, or so I thought, and inspired half a lifetime of reading. The other half was children, and now I'm up to senility, dotage and soon, decomposition. (stolen)
I recall watching a documentary about Bradbury here in the UK, and thought how bright he was, and entertaining. The other night I had forgotten briefly looking at his wiki page, but I also recall Rock Hudson playing "the Martian Chronicles" and the series was entertainingly strange, but Bradbury thought it boring, according to our article, which I glanced at again just now. I know much of his SF work, but I was picky with my reading, and stuck to my genre. He did so much more. I never met anybody with celebrity in that meaningful way ... but -
I once flew BA from Munich to Heathrow and shared the time with Jill Ireland and hubby Charles Bronson, James Hunt and a stunning blonde. Charles' minders were more chiselled than he was. To complete the motor racing connection, does Peter Collins being my dad's best mate and best man count?
I have more;) - Roxy the dog 22:51, 13 January 2023 (UTC)
disambiguation error Roxy :-) You beat up the kids? What, you are so sweet! Sgerbic (talk) 22:55, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

I do have this as evidence, hope they won't find it [https: //photos.app.goo.gl/dvFtW492zs4RaG7T8]. You have to fix the space in this link to make it work Sgerbic (talk) 17:45, 21 January 2023 (UTC)

Bond villain ey? Do you have some sort of secret underground volcano base, filled with incredibly contrived devices for "securing" prisoners? Sideswipe9th (talk) 18:04, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
Oh you know it - and sharks with lasers Sgerbic (talk) 18:07, 21 January 2023 (UTC)
