Hi there!! I see you are interested in the topic. I have also much to add about the Zagorian and Epirot culture. I look to add some villages ans expand the
Vikos-Aoos National Park and of course the Zagori (social structure in past etc.) articles.Alexikoua (talk) 12:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply

There must have been a misunderstanding. I had cited Georgios Souliotes whenever I added something from his book (mainly information on buildings and locations). It was the information on schools, churches and monasteries, as far as I remember.Skamnelis (talk) 22:11, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Searchbot message was received while I was editing a page on disambiguation, as there are two villages with the same name and I had to redefine Monodendri. I sent messages and made the correct entries on Edit summary clarifying redirections. Can I remove this warning? What is the policy?Skamnelis (talk) 22:15, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Macedonian POV
We have guidelines for how to handle Macedonia/FYROM. Pushing your POV in this area is likely to get you quickly blocked. And at least one of your edits was nonsense: "The Slavic and Bulgarian name of the city is Kostur" in place of "The Macedonian and Bulgarian name", since the Bulgarians are Slavs. I'm sympathetic to the potential ambiguity of the name "Macedonian" in such situations, but that's why we've spent long hours devising the guidelines. kwami (talk) 19:40, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Reply to Kwami: I am unfortunately not aware what the guidelines are and where to find them. I suppose you are a linguist and you are referring by "Macedonian" to the language of FYROM, which is not what in a Greek context such as this one refers to when one says Macedonian. There are more Greek Macedonians than Slavic ones overall and in any case we are referring to a Greek city located in the administrative district of Macedonia, hence a Macedonian city with the name Kastoria in the local (hence Macedonian) language. If there are rules regarding the definitions of languages or dialects, and the appropriate contexts, they should be immediately available to readers for clarification whenever a contentious situation arises. I find it difficult however to understand that one might say the Yorkshire name of York is "add its Slavic equivalent". Secondly, if there are rules about providing multilingual information on place names, there should also be some guidance about which languages would be relevant. Especially in Greece the legitimacy of using the name Macedonian to denote non-Greek (a Slavic language) is disputed, that is appreciated generally as well as within the context of Wikipedia. I also understand the Slavic word for Kastoria is Kostur regardless of which specific Slavic language. Skamnelis (talk) 21:58, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I answered on my talk page rather than here. How about we call it
Greek Slavic vs local Greek? "Macedonian language" can only mean Slavic in English (or Ancient Macedonian), never Greek proper. It's the Greek language, or the Macedonian (sub)dialect of Greek. Anyway, the links to the ongoing policy debate are on my talk page. (What it currently looks like is that Greek editors want one thing, based on "FYROM", and everybody else, including those with no connection to either side, want something else. As long as that's the case, the Greek side will loose. I don't know if you might be able to bring something constructive to the debate?) kwami (talk) 19:34, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply

Thank you kwami for your helpful response and apologies for my delayed answer. I have replied at your talk page and will add a comment at the Macedonia RfC discussion. Thanks for the wiki link to the guidelines.Skamnelis (talk) 23:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Alexikoua, and very nice article yourself. I will add their wiki links in the text for Ioannina. Skamnelis (talk) 21:58, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just so you know, in general, shorter comments are easier to read and understand than long ones. You may wish to consider shortening your comment some. J.delanoygabsadds 04:02, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, of course you are right but this is not a simple issue. I have tried to be succinct as far as possible. There were several points raised above or earlier in these discussions that I had not managed to contribute to.Skamnelis (talk) 04:57, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
