- Hey Sultec - unless there's a specific reason to keep it in one place, conversations between users like this are usually conducted between two talk pages. In this case, I post something on your talk page, you post a reply at the bottom of mine, in a new section, I post a reply on yours etc. You can use : at the beginning of a line to indent it one level - multiple :s generate multiple indents. The same goes for * to make bullet points and # to make a numbered list. Like I said, when messages go between talk pages, there's usually little need for that talk notice. It's good to see you've got the hang of signing your name - many new users seem to fail to grasp that for a while. Some users add the talk pages of people who they correspond with to the user's watchlist - that way, even if you reply on your own talk page the other user can see that you have. Xfd stands for?

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you, hectic week with school in a few days etc. To address the SUL template first: the reason is that both it and the barnstar are designed to 'float' - this means they shuffle themselves around the page and try to fit together compactly without large areas of space - obviously this is not what you want in this situation. There is a template that can help you here - called, helpfully, {{

Uncat applied but category already there

- That category is just a maintenance category and will disappear automatically as soon as the stub tag is removed. The article also needs to be put into a permanent category, such as Category:Criminal law or one of its sub-categories. Hope that helps!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 18:28, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
WP:UNCAT summaries
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure. You might need to ask at the project page, or indeed the editor that added that wording. At a guess. I's hazard that it's in part project advertising, and in part, by way of documentation of such edits. Alai (talk) 14:33, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
Stubs categories and regular categories
Why do stubs need more categorization if they already have a category stub?
- Because of the huge number of articles on wikipedia that are stub sized, we need more specific tags to help index and categorize all the various articles. See also Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting -Optigan13 (talk) 02:22, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

- Because as soon as the article is expanded, the stub template will be removed and the stub category will disappear with it. Every article needs permanent categories that aren't dependent on stub (or any other) status. --Tkynerd 16:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

stubtagtab doesn't seem to do much
I've tried installingUser:ais523/stubtagtab.js with mixed results. It does put an extra tab on an article page (only, doesn't work in user page sandbox) allowing you to enter a stub category via a popup box. The script seems to suggest that it should give more options but I'm not seeing that action.
- stubtagtab is very simple, no options or anything, just the popup box. stubtagtab2.js is the one which has menus of stub tags; most people prefer that one instead. --ais523 14:31, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Copy code from one page to another
I would like to put a section of code (table) that is on one of my pages onto another without copy/paste. That way, if I changed it on one page, it would change on all the rest. - You would find better acceptance of articles if you read the warnings on your talk page. After you have done that, make the article on one of your subpages and then request reviews before posting it to the main namespace. Hello, Fellow de-orphaner!
- Read the Wikipedia:WikiProject Orphanage page, especially the section marked "Criteria". The page contains a lot of good advice to get you started, as well as the standard procedures we are using to de-orphan articles.
- Look at {{articleissues}} closely and make sure you know how to use them correctly. (It's not difficult, but it is easy to screw up. Trust me, I have.)
- Keep de-orphaning! Category:Orphaned articles contains all orphaned articles organized by month. Right now we're just trying to keep up with all the new orphans being created, so please start with the current monthly category. Once those are cleared out, we can start working on the backlog in reverse-chronological order.
- Of course, you may have already known all of this, in which case sorry for the spam. Either way, let me know if there's any way I can help you contribute more to the project!

- On the original page. For instance, if the page went from X to Y to Z, X is a double redirect because it points to Y, which points to Z, and you'd have to put that on X so it points straight to Z. GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales —signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

We have reached the midway point in our backlog elimination drive, so here is an update. Participation report — The November drive has 53 participants at this point. We had 77 participants in the September drive. In July, 95 people signed up for the drive, and in May we had 36. If you are not participating, it is not too late to join! Progress report — The drive is quite successful so far, as we have already almost reached our target of a 10% reduction in the number of articles in the backlog. We are doing very well at keeping our Requests page clear, as those articles count double for word count for this drive. Please keep in mind the possibility of removing other tags when you are finished with an article. If the article no longer needs {{cleanup}}, {{wikify}}, or other similar maintenance tags, please remove them, as this will make the tasks of other WikiProjects easier to complete. Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 backlog elimination drive
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors January 2011 Backlog elimination drive ! The drive is halfway over, so here are some mid-drive stats.![]()
![]() So far, 43 people have signed up for this drive. Of these, 25 have participated. If you signed up for the drive but haven't participated yet, it's not too late! Try to copy edit at least a few articles. Remember, if you have rollover words from the last drive, you will lose them if you do not participate in this drive. If you haven't signed up for the drive yet, you can sign up now.
We have eliminated two months from the backlog – January and February 2009. One of our goals is to eliminate as many months as possible from the 2009 backlog. Please help us reduce the size of this part of the backlog if you haven't already. Another goal is to reduce the entire backlog by 10%, or by 515 articles. WikiProject Orphanage is holding a month long Backlog Elimination Drive to de-orphan articles which have orphan tags!
The goal is to eliminate the backlog of orphan articles. There are currently 58450 articles which have orphan tags. The drive is running from April 12, 2014 to May 12, 2014.
Awards will be given out for all editors participating in the drive in the form of barnstars at the end of the drive. To add your name in the participants list click here.

deOrphaning script
Hello everyone! I was just working on responding to a couple bug reports for a script that I worked up as part of a request from this project, and I noticed that only a couple people (who weren't even on this mailing list) are actually using the script. A little history on the script: In March of 2014, Jim Cartar came to my user talk page and said he needed some help in acquiring a script for a backlog drive that he was working on that could keep track of and score deOrphanings for a scored backlog drive. I took that request to the project's talk page (BackLog Drive "DO" (De-Orphaning) script proposal) and there was near unanimous support for this. I thought about the proposal and decided the best way to do it was to build a new script (which is still no where near as comprehensive as Manishearth's OrphanTabs) and build into it a mechanism that will make BLD scoring easy.
What I'm wondering at this point is, since there appears to be only two people using the script, should I continue to develop this script with a goal of using it for scoring BLDs or just debug the existing script and leave it at that. Thanks for any replies or comments.

However, I would recommend trying to get access through a local research library (see Wikipedia:Find your source for strategies). You may also want to try reaching out to the journal directly, using our pitch: Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library/Processes/Pitching partners. If they are willing to donate more than one account, we would be happy to distribute them through the Wikipedia Library. Marking dead links
A dead, unarchived source URL may still be useful. Such a link indicates that information was (probably) verifiable in the past, and the link might provide another user with greater resources or expertise with enough information to find the reference. It could also return from the dead. With a dead link, it is possible to determine if it has been cited elsewhere, or to contact the person originally responsible for the source. For example, one could contact the Yale Computer Science department if http://www.cs.yale.edu/~EliYale/Defense-in-Depth-PhD-thesis.pdf[dead link] were dead. Place {{Dead link|date=April 2017}} If you omit the date a bot will add it for you at some point. after the dead URL and just before the </ref> tag if applicable, leaving the original link intact. Placing [dead link] auto-categorizes the article into Articles with dead external links project category, and into specific monthly date range category based on |date= parameter. Do not delete a URL just because it has been tagged with [dead link] for a long time.
