Welcome!

Hello, Twerpygeek, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Tiki (Short Video App), may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Tiki (app), requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See
    Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations
    for more information.
  • It appears to be an unambiguous
section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here
    .

Re: "How can I actually create a page without put under speedy deletion?"

Hi there! I saw your comment on

treat newcomers kindly and fairly
, but the same editors who follow all other guidelines to the letter (despite them being just that: guidelines) unfortunately have the hardest time following that one.

Anyway, your page was deleted because in the eyes of the community, it read too much like an advertisement for Tiki. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that's supposed to have a neutral point of view, so pages that just promote or attack something aren't accepted around here. Another hurdle to overcome is that because Wikipedia, again, is an encyclopedia, its underlying purpose is actually to summarize other sources. For that reason, something needs to be covered in multiple, reliable sources for us to have an article on it; if it isn't based on multiple sources other than the subject itself, a text can't really be encyclopedic. If you recreate the page with a impartial explanation on what Tiki is (it doesn't have to be long) and link to some trustworthy sources that are independent of each other and talk about the app, your article won't be deleted again. We admittedly have a steep learning curve, but I hope your treatment so far won't discourage you from contributing to Wikipedia. Glades12 (talk) 10:47, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
