Please do not update chart positions until confirmed/published by its source, Billboard. Per

WP:RS, Twitter is not considered a reliable source, nor are message boards or forum posts. Billboard normally gives a "Chart Highlights" column on Mondays, which will preview select upcoming charts. Please wait til then, thanks - eo (talk) 19:42, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply

edit on cher album discography

i own gold and live in the us and can vouch the album is an official release and was released by geffen records as the back of the cd says it is copyright 2005 geffen records so that means the album gold is an official release. if it isnt then Greatest Hits: 1965–1992, If I Could Turn Back Time: Cher's Greatest Hits, should not be on there either as they are released by geffen records too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.58.24.163 (talk) 22:07, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but how did Geffen get the rights to release songs Cher recorded for WB? Geffen had a contract with Cher to release a compilation after they have split, and that was Greatest Hits: 1965–1992 in Europe and If I Could Turn Back Time: Cher's Greatest Hits in US. Imo that is not an official release as the official one happened 2 years before, in 2003... I will check more on this...--Uncleangelo (talk) 17:43, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

i have no clue how they got the rights. but they released it. it looks as though the album contains all the songs from The Very Best of Cher plus eleven tracks, a remix of "heart of stone", which was featured on If I Could Turn Back Time: Cher's Greatest Hits, instead of it being the original version, and "take me home" is extended. but other then that it contains the same songs on The Very Best of Cher, so idk. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.58.24.163 (talk) 13:47, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Cher edits

Hi, I have removed the US cash box 100 chart because Billboard is the main and most important chart and I thought it would be misleading for the readers - so many US charts. As it goes for the "Believe" 2013 charts: 1. Scottisch chart is already there: she peaked at #1 when the single was released. Do you want to add every year to the table when the single re-entered the chart? Is it notable that she re-enetered at #91 in Scotland? To avoid long tables, there is info in the table "Chart (1998–99)", because Believe peaked on the charts not only in 1998. But I think we shouldn't change it to 1998–2013 either, in this case.

By the way, I'm not sure if you know this, but "Believe" also re-entered the UK Official Singles Chart these three times: 18/08/2012: 195 (1 wk), 06/10/2012: 125 (1 wk) and 26/10/2013: 128 (1 wk).

The UK Dance Chart is official, but wasn't there in 1998 - so what does this peak at #18 in 2013 say? In 1998 - she would've been #1. The same goes for the Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart in the US. These are the reasons, why I have removed them last year :) Out of all these charts, I have added today the "Believe" 2013 UK Dance Chart and Dance/Electronic Digital Songs. :) --Max24 (talk) 12:54, 10 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Many artists have the Cash Box 100 chart included as it was a popular magazine which indicated the song's popularity using slightly different criteria than Billboard. Also, I'm aware that Believe re-entered the UK top 200 chart several times, and those kinds of entries shouldn't be used. However, I do feel that a top 100 placement, which is shown on the official website for both Britain and Scotland, should be kept. After all that is what the charts are about, I mean if it entered at #1 it would surely be added, but in my book a chart position is a chart position. thanks! Cher's Danish certs

Hi, why is it only showing one certification on this e-mail? Cher has also received 5x Platinum for her album Believe. She could have also had other certifications in Denmark besides those two. What was your e-mail to IFPI Denmark if you don't mind?--Harout72 (talk) 16:56, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I asked them if she had any other certifications besides the ones for Believe and that was their reply, quite to the point :). Later, I asked for a PDF but they said they will not be providing info and that I should ask the label. Here's the video where they presented her the awards for both the album and the single, apparently the single is also certified according to the video, and the album is awarded 3xPlatinum here, but that was in early 1999 and it was re-certified later as reported by Billboard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svLEkFl2QeU User:Uncleangelo (User talk:Uncleangelo) 22:56, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I have a question that's unrelated to my question above, thanks BTW for clarifying the Denmark's certification. Remember this file you provided for Cher's New Zealand's certification? Do you have this book in your procession or it was somebody else's? The reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to get hold of New Zealand's earlier certification levels. And if you look at the 3rd page where it says "Column 4", immediately after it indicated the levels for singles, it states "For album figures see above". I'm trying to understand if the levels for albums were higher as it was the case for the singles. So I'd like to know if there is an additional page as it says "For album figures see above" which possibly shows the changes for album levels.--Harout72 (talk) 03:56, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I contacted someone who has the book through http://www.charts.org.nz He was kind enough to scan the pages for a few artists I asked but I remember I waited for a few months... I guess you can try and contact Dean Scapolo himself somehow, he had a blog with his email address I remember, I did a quick search now but couldn't find it... edit. found this email now [email protected] - not sure if it's still functional though.

Anyway, good luck, curious to know what you discover! User:Uncleangelo (User talk:Uncleangelo) 23:35, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Cher singles discography shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Unreliable source for Venezuela certification

Hi. Regarding

the burden of proof is on you as the one reintroducing the material. Current consensus is that this is a self-published list which has no official standing but we might be all wrong. --Muhandes (talk) 12:55, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply

Please don't take this as going against
edit-warring. Best regards. --Muhandes (talk) 06:27, 19 July 2021 (UTC)[reply

Please note that the Reshet Gimel and Galgalatz charts are single network charts, and incorporate user voting, so they should not be added, see

Reverting/removing sourced changes to Cher's singles discography

Below are the singles that were listed as promotional singles that have been moved to the main singles section. These singles were released as commercial 45s, sent to radio, and reviewed by Billboard, Cashbox, and/or Record World magazines. They were legitimate singles which failed to chart. A failure to chart does not downgrade a single to "promotional" status. These singles were reviewed by these publications as showing "chart potential", further indicating that they were indeed singles. Please review the sources below before reverting any changes that you personally disagree with. The constant reverting of this page is verging on edit-warring, or at the very least disruptive editing. As it states in this section of that page, if the added or changed information is sourced it should not be reverted simply because you personally disagree with what has been added.

Not a minor edit

Please do not mark additions of whole charts as minor edits, as you did here. See Help:Minor edit for what minor edits are—it's a change of either no or only a few bytes, like fixing a typo. Thanks. Ss112 11:33, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not make unexplained reverts as you did here. If you wanted to restore what the user prior to me removed, you could have just copied the footnote templates they removed and readded them. You should not have reverted my edits, which are in line with

MOS:CT and the article's location a long time ago. Thank you, and I trust you won't intentionally or otherwise helpful edits again. Ss112 19:53, 2 December 2023 (UTC)[reply

When you update chart peaks, please update the access-date [1]. Ss112 07:04, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Can you please remember to update access-dates? It's really not difficult to update the attached date in the album chart template or the single chart template. It is important as it tells editors you accessed that source again to verify that it still works on that date. Thank you. Ss112 23:58, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

December 2023: Adding unsourced chart positions

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Christmas (Cher album), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Ss112 18:06, 8 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Cher singles discography, you may be blocked from editing. Uncleangelo, if you continue to add unsourced chart positions, I will report you to an administrator. Ss112 00:43, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced or poorly sourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Cher singles discography. Last warning before I inform an administrator you habitually add unsourced chart information. CHECK the sources. Ss112 22:27, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What are you referring to? There was a source added with the latest edit I did. Either way, obviously I'm not that proficient at editing, as I'm just a fan who wants to add the latest and accurate info, if there are those who are more technically skilled as you are just kindly note what could be done better. thank you.
