Piotr Kamler page

Hi, Yamla. I just created a stub for Polish film director Piotr Kamler. The page name came with a warning that another page under that name had been removed by you in 2015 because it was created by a banned user in 2015. I couldn't find a reference to it in your logs so I proceeded, but thought it best to check and see if there is any issue I am missing. I believe my stub is all original content. Wrightjack talk

Reverts of vandalism reverts

Please stop reverting vandalism reverts. Such as here and here. --Bamyers99 (talk) 00:08, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I noticed this too @Yamla — is this because you nuked Stumbleannnn's contribs or something? If so, is there a way to revert those edits?
I will start reverting a couple of them for now since some of them seem fairly obvious. I've listed a couple above. Thanks, Staraction (talk | contribs) 01:15, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, here's a list of edits of yours I've reverted:
Further, the following are not vandalism-related/immediately obvious but I believe they are constructive; however, let me know if you had another reason to revert them (I have not reverted to Stumbleannnn's version for these diffs): Special:Diff/1263169580, Special:Diff/1263713744, Special:Diff/1274736007, Special:Diff/1274735910, Special:Diff/1274735336, Special:Diff/1274735316. I have not been able to dig through all the diffs; please let me know if I should be able to do so. Thanks, Staraction (talk | contribs) 01:38, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
These were from a
WP:RBI changes made things worse. This user seems to alternate between helpful and harmful contributions, looks like this time around they were in a helpful phase and I should have noticed (while still obviously blocking for ban-evasion). --Yamla (talk) 12:23, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply

The IP

Heya, that IP is 100% the blocked user, I recognise the writing immediately. Their last post gave it away. Blue Sonnet (talk) 12:46, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I had absolutely 0 doubt. :) --Yamla (talk) 12:48, 10 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, thank you for helping us deal with this guy. The sockpupping investigation is here. Best regards, James2813 (talk) 14:46, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, excellent. I'll definitely take a look at that investigation. --Yamla (talk) 14:47, 11 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per unrelated sock you actively just acted on... Can't we just write some code which won't permit this specific kind of insertion? Seems relatively standardized in form. Am I missing something? BusterD (talk) 13:52, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
We could write a filter, though I don't have first-hand experience doing so on Wikipedia. The problem is, filters are just
Regular expressions and aren't that hard to bypass. --Yamla (talk) 13:54, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply

It appears we're defenseless against these incidents, and we're semi-protecting the Teahouse talk page. So that's bad. It's not just me, we're in a blizzard of disruption right now, right? BusterD (talk) 14:00, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, we are in a blizzard of disruption. I haven't seen the on-wiki stuff from this
legal threat on my part, I'm obviously not going to personally pursue legal action for on-wiki threats from this troll. We can keep on setting up filters (and probably should), but this user always bypasses the filters. --Yamla (talk) 14:06, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply

Sent some suggestion to the email. This is uncoordinated denial-of-service style assault, in the "will nobody rid me of this meddlesome priest?" manner. IMHO the emphasis has been to get the community's attention inward facing. I think we do our best work in time of crisis, when we are effectively outward facing, as a group. Our guardrails are being tested right now. BusterD (talk) 14:13, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent. I'm about to fire off an email to you, too. --Yamla (talk) 14:16, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thx. BusterD (talk) 14:29, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a private speech here. BusterD (talk) 15:14, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

out of curiosity

I saw your note on DanielSon524's talk page about marking something in your calendar and I wondered if you have the ping/calendar script enabled (the bottom one here)? It's a game changer. It adds a little tab at the top of any page that you're editing and you just add a reminder, and a time range, and it will show up on your watchlist on whatever day you set. Then you can either snooze it or dismiss it. -- Ponyobons mots 23:20, 12 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good thing I watch Yamla's Talk page, Ponyo, that sounds really helpful. I've installed it. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:06, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
At first I didn't use it and sort of forgot about it altogether. Not anymore! Five out of five; would recommend. PS I get a $0.02 finder's fee on any new uplaods of the script, but it's in Canadian dollars, so I actually lose money.-- Ponyobons mots 00:13, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What is that then - an undisclosed unpaid editor?--Bbb23 (talk) 00:31, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't. I use Todoist, one of the very few apps I find useful enough that I actually pay money for it. But this sounds fabulous for Wikipedia. Thanks so much! As a Canadian one province over from you, Ponyo, I know we no longer use the penny, so presumably you'll get $0.05. :) --Yamla (talk) 01:43, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
