For instance, I looked at many of our fellow literary journals and Ascent, The Georgia Review, Tin House, Word Riot (and these are all picked at random), all follow similar formats. Hey Zach, I'm struggling to get https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Advanced_Transit_Association accepted. ATRA is in the Journal of Advanced Transportation but this isn't available publicly online. I can add a reference to that if it helps? The members of ATRA have published plenty of papers but these are all listed on their site - but these are not secondary sources so maybe not helpful? Hi Zach, Thanks very much for you response! You added that Exceptional Children appears to be a "duplicate article," and thus only TEACHING Exceptional Children will be the only article considered. Though the names are similar, TEACHING Exceptional Children and Exceptional Children are both separate publications, published by the same society and company, but vastly different in everything from medium (magazine vs. journal, respectively) and content. Could you reinstate consideration for Exceptional Children as well? Please help me understand why my article on pCell technology is not notable. I have 15 years experience in the telecommunications and electronics industry, and this technology has generated far more discussion than 4G LTE did when it was first discussed in 2004. There are hundred of references to this technology over that last few years going back to when it was called Distributed Input Distributed Output (DIDO)including articles by IEEE Spectrum. There have been active discussions with the FCC and Artemis Networks have a broad portfolio of fundamental patents, both US and internationally protecting the technology. To consider this technology as non-notable is perhaps like someone at the end of the 19th century dismissing an article on the invention of radio. pCell technology is the "talk of the town" by those in the know in the telecommunication industry, and dismissing the article for the reasons given is less than judicious. I think I may have messed it up a little by putting his full name Theodore Zachary Cotler, making it seem like the Zachary isn't needed in the article title, because I can't find anywhere online where he publishes as Theodore Cotler alone. I think the Wiki article should either be called "Theodore Zachary Cotler" or "T. Zachary Cotler" (is there a way to have searches for both lead to this article?) but not just Theodore Cotler. The decline tag stays even if the article is later approved or if someone else creates it. It's just for historical record. As for the article on the mainspace, it appears to be sufficient. Thank you very much for your message.

I am a bit in a mood of not knowingly what to do. It's my first article on Wikipedia, hoping to be able to contribute and I discovered an item that was so far not known on Wikipedia, thus I started the article USTC, United States Transportation Corps in the hope that if somebody knows more can add information to it to make it more complete.

My private situation has changed and I have barely time left for anything at all. I found trying to write an article for Wikipedia as enormously time consuming without much effective results and I wonder if there is something like a 10-step guide to add an article. I just don't have the time to read through tons of documents (of guidelines for Wikipedia as that's how it looks like to me) that costs me similar tons of hours to get through and to understand. I love to write, certainly as much as possible on facts based, however I feel the "brake" implemented on Wikipedia is enormous and doesn't encourage new people to write articles on Wikipedia.

I am sincerely sorry if this might sound pretty negative, it's just that I would love to contribute to Wikipedia but that I just don't know how to get properly started and even just communicating with those who leave a feedback I feel very difficult, I even don't know if this message ever will reach you.

So to stop consuming everybody's time & energy I decide to become yet again an inactive Wikipedia member, not writing articles for the moment being because the initial efforts to get an article published is just too enormously time consuming process that I just can't afford.

So I am sorry to have bothered you with my article and please have it removed since I just don't have the time to add any more energy and information to it.

Once Wikipedia becomes easier to access for starting writers in the future, I am certainly interested again. Till then, I am sorry to let you and Wikipedia know that I have to let this fantastic initiative (i.e. Wikipedia) go; it's over complicated in my opinion.

The vast majority of new users face a very steep learning curve. It's actually a huge topic of discussion among Wikipedia leaders, and a reason for declining numbers of volunteers. I started editing here when I was 9 (May 2007 to be exact, although this account wasn't created until 2011) and it wasn't until early 2012 when I started completely getting the jest of the rules. For reference,

this is the page to help users with their first article. It's really long for most, although it might be of help to you. And the amount of policies is just disturbing for newcomers. We don't really remove articles, as eventually someone comes along to improve it. Have you been using the VisualEditor? It's Wikimedia's new attempt to get new users to join the website. Also, by the way, If you come on my talk page, I will get both an email and text message notifying me, so yes, it definitely will reach me. It's sad to see you go, although this story is very common and is becoming a systemic problem within Wikipedia. If you ever have any questions, you can come and ask here. References are sometimes weird and don't go together properly. Look at the section called "References". The sources should be in there, but there's only one from the American Academy of Poets. You can't have unsourced sections within your article. How do I know that it was founded in 1977 or that Laura Kasischke, Gary Copeland Lilly, and Erin Belieu are notable contributors? I got my article rejected again after re-submitting. The article got rejected earlier saying not enough references were included to establish the notability of the article. So, I have tried to add enough references to establish the notability of the subject.

I'm not sure your suggestion makes sense. I could cite NewPages for the creation in 1977, but that's just re-citing the magazine's own blurb. Nor is that the format followed by most serious wikipedia entries. For instance, the New Yorker cites it's own timeline when referencing its founding date, and does not provide third party sources for its list of notable contributors. The Paris Review also does not cite its creation in 1973. As to the contributors, if there is no third party cite but only the content entry at Willow Springs itself, are you saying notable contributors cannot be mentioned? So I'm trying to find some clarification on this and this is what I found: "Avoid declining an article because it correctly uses general references to support some or all of the material. The "Early Life and Education", "Philanthropy", and "Personal Life" sections don't have inline citations. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, look at the superscript [1], [2], and [3] in the article. If you look at the code, you'll see that there are references there. Governement sites confirming business history and presence in us states, Intel, already accepted wikipedia articles.... Hi Zach, thanks for reviewing this draft. My reason for creating the article was simply to complete disambiguation of the existing article on the Californian 1990s Mojo label (whose only reference is a broken web link!) and the overarching 'List of record labels' by providing an equivalent stub. In this specialised domain, I'd say the two Mojos are of similar notability.

In the domain of collectable UK soul 45s, ref 3 is a non-self-published authoritative source; it contains an article (subscription-only on the magazine's website, scanned into the 'See also' item "Mojo Records (polydor) forum discussion") whose content is recapitulated in refs 1 and 2. Ref 1 actually reproduces the labels of the records released by the label, which I would say are authoritative even if the site itself may be classed as self-published.

I don't believe further sources are necessary for a stub like this draft. However ref 2 could be moved into 'See also' if that would be more appropriate. On the other hand I think it meets the

WP:RS

Hi Zach........I posted an article of Traces Screen Printing Ltd. solely on its environmental stewardship and leading practices in the Region of Waterloo. Immediately, someone named Hell in a Handbasket (somewhat suitable it seems) placed a notation of the page that it appears to be written as an advertisement. Obviously, H in a H did not actually READ the article because it doesn't mention not one service or product the company produces. That was on purpose...it's not about that at all......it is all about how this company has made a difference for the environment by only using inks etc that won't harm it. Is there something that can be done about this notation on the page. It's insulting.

Hi Zach,

You recently rejected an article for musician Lee Bannon on the grounds that his notability was not sufficiently demonstrated. I'm unsure as to what else one would need to qualify, as a fairly wide variety of well-regarded, reliable, independent media outlets (ie Vice, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor) were cited within the article. Additionally, the coverage that was cited includes (among other things) an in-depth feature, an interview, and a signing announcement, all of which I believe qualifies as "significant coverage". Again, happy to revise, just unclear as to exactly what about the citations provided fails to meet notability criteria. Please advise?

My content does not violate any copyrights, and the information is verifiable as my references show.

All I include in my article is what they do as a company and a brief history including acquisitions, high-level executive changes and the comapnies acquisition by Hearst. In fact, the Hearst page has a links to a non-existent iCrossing page which just redirects back to the same Hearst page. This is not a user-friendly experience.

Please tell me what elements of the article sound like advertising. Is it the intro paragraph that describes what they do? Should this be more vague? Or is it a certain element in the history portion? If it is the history portion that is an issue can you please tell me which element should not be included.

Hello Zach,

Thank you for reviewing the Generation R page I made. You noted that 'This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability'. I was wondering how I can improve the notability. I am trying to create an English Wikipedia page about Generation R, in the same way as the pages about Rotterdam Study and Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, because they are comparable population based cohort-studies. Could you explain to me why those two pages are correct accorindg the Wikipedia guidelines and why the Generation R page is not? Thank you very much.

Stub up for deletion - WeWorked

Hi Zach Vega, I created a stub article that I believe you approved about a month ago. I just got notice that it is nominated for deletion. I was just about to try to get more involved with Wikipedia. I was told it was extremely hard to make any kind of edits. Not sure you can do anything about the deletion, but take a look if you have a moment. The article is WeWorked. Navigating Wiki is so hard for newbies :) Any advice would be helpful for my next articles and edits. Thus said, can you give me some more detailed input on how to better the article? I'm looking at different approved entries in the CMS niche like ImpressPages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImpressPages) and Impress CMS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImpressCMS). From what I see, especially in ImpressPages' case, the structure is almost identical, as are the website sources used (they are niche, technological websites like CMS Critic, CMS Report that have covered Microweber too). I'm a bit confused as to how should I edit the entry.

Why is the article being proposed for deletion?

New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. Major changes:

• Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
• Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
• Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

I agree that this article has a single reference source, but it is not self-published.

While I am sure you see many self-serving articles published merely to promote a specific company or product, I took great pains to make sure that this article was neutral, using only material from the standard itself and avoiding promoting my company or our products. My sole objective is to provide a reference to the (new) term OPCI and a link to the defining national standard.

CSA (The Canadian Standards Association) is the official electrical safety standards body in Canada - much like Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the USA and IEC in Europe. The OPCI standard was developed by a CSA committee (yes, including myself as a representative of my company, but also including competitors, independent third parties and employees of CSA) over a period of three years before being subjected to the voting process, approved and being published by CSA.

Since this article serves as a definition of a term from an official published national standard I believe a single reference may be acceptable.

By comparison there are Wikipedia articles which relate to published standards that include no reference at all (not ok), or only reference the standard itself.

You can see that CSA is referenced on both the UL article and has its own article.

If you feel that additional references are essential, and would not object to those references being to company websites and publications and inherently commercial in nature then I'll be happy to amend the article.

Edits to article submission, "Bruce Mann, oncologist"

Hi, Zach -- thanks for your review of my proposed article on Bruce Mann (I'm slow to get back to this, after an international move). Glad you see he's indeed notable, and I tried to document this better for the resubmit. Even prominent scientists don't usually get newspaper coverage (unless they're in some controversial field like climate change); their prominence and fame shows up when their work is cited in academic or professional forums, or when they get flown around the world as invited speakers, so I added notes citing samples of these and also a prestigious award given to his work by the Australian Ministry of Health. I did add one newspaper article from the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) but the main thing is his professional credentials, so I hope these do the trick. Thanks! Please Assist - Abuse/Misuse of Wiki

Hey Zach,

I am having trouble with an editor. The wiki page is Hexagonal Water. The editor mcsly continues to edit, possibly automatically, this page with slanderous and misinformed information seemingly for his own sake. It does not give a valid representation as to the state of the current Science regarding this topic. It is merely discrediting, and most of his references are bogus.

For those who wish for an actual description of what Hexagonal Water is this is not helpful, useful or accurate.

I am currently seeking funding for a business that will make Hexagonal Structured Water and this wiki is one of the first things that potential funders will see. When most see "Marketing Scam" as in mcsly's definition they are surely put off.

There are now about 20 books and hundreds of papers by established (30+ years H20 molecular specialization) scientific researchers that shows the validity of molecular structuring effects in water as well as the numerous benefits on human and plant physiology. I have two pages of references that I would be happy to send you so you can see that this is a legitimate science. You can find some on Amazon books.

I am not sure as to your policy regarding those who monopolize post topics by continuing to reestablish their edits, and for those who misuse this informative environment for their own opinions but I need some help in stopping it. I have far more to contribute on this topic and would be happy to do so if it wasn't going to be repeatedly overwritten by this user.
