Willow Springs

Hi Zach, so Willow Springs entry was unapproved because it needs reliable sources. What sources beyond Willow Springs itself do you mean? For instance, I looked at many of our fellow literary journals and Ascent, The Georgia Review, Tin House, Word Riot (and these are all picked at random), all follow similar formats. Thanks for your time. D — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dangruz (talkcontribs) 06:09, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Brndstr Inc

Hey Zach,

I believe you recently declined our entry. I was wondering if you can help guide me as to what needs to be done to get accepted.

Thank you and look forward to speaking soon

S — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.31.73.186 (talk) 09:20, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article lacks a source that would make it notable. While you provided articles that it received funding, that does not inherently guarantee its notability. Try to find some third-party articles telling the services Brndstr provides or how it has impacted the industry. Zach Vega (talk to me) 11:06, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Advanced Transit Association

Hey Zach, I'm struggling to get https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Advanced_Transit_Association accepted. ATRA is in the Journal of Advanced Transportation but this isn't available publicly online. I can add a reference to that if it helps? The members of ATRA have published plenty of papers but these are all listed on their site - but these are not secondary sources so maybe not helpful? Alexis macleod (talk) 12:13, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You can add the reference from the Journal of Advanced Transportation. However, papers on the ARTA's website are
self-published and cannot be used as a sole source. Zach Vega (talk to me) 21:42, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply

Lost Episode Festival Toronto

Hi Zach, can you help me with: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Lost_Episode_Festival_Toronto I'd added references which are notable (IMDb, Miami Herald, BBC, etc.) What else do I need to add? This is my first article. Your help is really appreciated. Thank you! K. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katie.anne.mcdonald (talkcontribs) 14:53, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the sources gave basic details about the event and did not provide much of the information noted in the article. Additionally, a few of the sources are blogs and are
self-published sources. Zach Vega (talk to me) 22:34, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply

Thank you for helping me. Ok, I've added a notes section and citations that point to the Bloor Calendar for 2013 (July, 2014 calendar is not online yet), and a link to the Star Trek Continues wikipedia page. Do I need to do anything else? K. comment added by Katie.anne.mcdonald (talkcontribs) 14:53, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The Bloor Calendar will work, however
Wikipedia articles cannot be sourced. Also, it is suggested to convert the rest of the references into "Notes", which is conventionally referred to as "References". Zach Vega (talk to me) 21:53, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply

Thanks again Zach. I think it's ready! I've removed the wikipedia reference, converted the notes to references, and moved the less notable blog references into the notes section. Approvable? comment added by Katie.anne.mcdonald (talkcontribs) 14:53, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Exceptional Children and Teaching Exceptional Children

Hi, Zach! Thanks for reviewing the two submissions I recently sent for approval: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:TEACHING_Exceptional_Children and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Exceptional_Children. I'm wondering what further sources you'd need for these titles outside of the official company and society pages to consider the article ready for publication? I've been following the precedents set by many other journal wikipedia articles (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_Exceptional_Children), so I figured just those two links would suffice based on existing convention. Is it just the matter of adding an infobox, or something more to do with the sources? Thanks in advance! Marthasage (talk) 00:17, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That article should have [citation needed] tags plastered all over it (I'll go append that, actually). As for the Exceptional Children article, try finding independent, secondary sources such as news articles. Zach Vega (talk to me) 00:35, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zach, Thanks very much for you response! You added that Exceptional Children appears to be a "duplicate article," and thus only TEACHING Exceptional Children will be the only article considered. Though the names are similar, TEACHING Exceptional Children and Exceptional Children are both separate publications, published by the same society and company, but vastly different in everything from medium (magazine vs. journal, respectively) and content. Could you reinstate consideration for Exceptional Children as well? I'll be sure to find some secondary independent sources for both, which should be easy considering both are well-established titles, one of which (EC) is JCR ranked. Thanks again for all your help! Marthasage (talk) 18:12, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Go ahead and resubmit both when you're done revising them. I would also advise to add a note that these are different publications to the top of the article so that other editors don't mark them as duplicates. Zach Vega (talk to me) 21:42, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

pCell

Dear Zach Vega,

Please help me understand why my article on pCell technology is not notable. I have 15 years experience in the telecommunications and electronics industry, and this technology has generated far more discussion than 4G LTE did when it was first discussed in 2004. There are hundred of references to this technology over that last few years going back to when it was called Distributed Input Distributed Output (DIDO)including articles by IEEE Spectrum. There have been active discussions with the FCC and Artemis Networks have a broad portfolio of fundamental patents, both US and internationally protecting the technology. To consider this technology as non-notable is perhaps like someone at the end of the 19th century dismissing an article on the invention of radio. pCell technology is the "talk of the town" by those in the know in the telecommunication industry, and dismissing the article for the reasons given is less than judicious. Sincerely Bkirby Bkirby (talk) 13:03, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have found tons of news resources, which prove notability. The article has been accepted, although I suggest adding a few more references. Zach Vega (talk to me) 16:57, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mikhail Chapiro

Hi Zach, I've edited article Artist Mikhail Chapiro according to your recommendations and am wondering if it is better now from your point of view. Also, I'd like to add some more references/citations and not sure what is the difference between the two. What should go to references and what to citations? I looked up other similar bio articles and couldn't tell the difference. Please help. Thank you! - Boris — Preceding unsigned comment added by Borisrusakov (talkcontribs) 16:31, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good, but there's still some structural issues. However, these issues are minor and can be dealt with after the fact. Resubmit the article and it'll be approved. Zach Vega (talk to me) 16:47, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Great! Thank you very much, just resubmitted. Still, would love to hear your recommendations, as I would like to keep working on this article until it's perfect. Thank you very much! Boris — Preceding unsigned comment added by Borisrusakov(talkcontribs) 17:38, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The article has been accepted and issues are listed on the article itself. I would also suggest going to your preferences, clicking "Gadgets", and enabling ProveIt. It really helps with referencing. Zach Vega (talk to me) 21:44, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zach, thanks for the acceptance. I did think it might possibly be of 'stub' quality - but after extensive web searching, this was all I could come up with. I am hoping somebody else out there can help improve it, maybe someone with access to different web-sites, or local info (e.g. someone who knows Carlton Black, or just someone from Michigan, USA!). I liked the story of how a small artist had garnered some belated recognition for a song written 50 years ago. (All very "searching for Sugarman!") Anyway, thanks for reviewing it. The article mainly needs two things: new sources need to be added that are independent of the subject. News articles would work the best for this. Also, convert the history timeline into sentence (prose) form. Zach Vega (talk to me) 15:11, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

CMS Station Brokerage

Hello Zach, The article CMS Station Brokerage has been revised to address relevance and quality of citations. CMS Station Brokerage is notable not only because of its long-term work with radio stations across the U.S., but also played a key role in a complex and highly visible sale of an historic and popular Pittsburgh radio station, WDUQ. The article has been revised to help make this more clear. CMS Station Brokerage, although working mostly 'behind the scenes' was instrumental in negotiating terms acceptable to the seller, Duquesne University, and the public media coalition that was formed to purchase the station. While the article may be short, CMS Station Brokerage is a significant company; in fact, much more relevant than some other published Wikipedia articles such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scan_Furniture and especially https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conlin%27s_Furniture. Please review the updated article and I hope we can get this published! Thx, Coffeepants (talk) 17:38, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bobby Keyes

Hi Zach,Thank you so much for your review of my article at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Bobby_Keyes#cite_note-3 You declined the article based on the unreliability of the cited sources. I accept and respect your decision, and I want to fix the article in order to bring it up to standard, but I truly do not know why the sources I provided are not adequate. Are they inadequate totally, or just for some of the statements for which they are cited? If this is the case, I will eliminate those statements for which the cites are inadequate and re-submit. In any case, thank you for your time and guidance on this. I look forward to your response. Best, Jeff — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jtn999 (talkcontribs) 12:35, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is the source from The Noise. It appears to be an interview, which means that it is closely associated with the subject. Try to find more third-party, independent sources that are not associated with Keyes. Zach Vega (talk to me) 12:41, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Zach, Thank you for your incredibly fast and thorough response. I have changed the article by sourcing the bio information regarding Keyes's hometown from The Noise to The Boston Globe. I have eliminated the quote from The Noise article calling Keyes a "master" guitar player. I am hoping the more objective information about the equipment Keyes uses can remain sourced to the Noise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Bobby_Keyes Thank you! Theodore Cotler

Hi, thanks for accepting my article. I think I may have messed it up a little by putting his full name Theodore Zachary Cotler, making it seem like the Zachary isn't needed in the article title, because I can't find anywhere online where he publishes as Theodore Cotler alone. I think the Wiki article should either be called "Theodore Zachary Cotler" or "T. Zachary Cotler" (is there a way to have searches for both lead to this article?) but not just Theodore Cotler. Probably the whole name is safest. Like David Foster Wallace used his whole name. Lizsimonrb (talk) 20:32, 6 June 2014 (UTC)Liz[reply]

It's usually standard procedure to remove middle names in titles, except in special cases like this. I have moved the article to

Hi: I've done quite a bit of work on this article now, although I see that the "declined" tag is still on User talk:Mrbingley123's "Talk" page. The decline tag stays even if the article is later approved or if someone else creates it. It's just for historical record. As for the article on the mainspace, it appears to be sufficient. USTC, United States Transportation Corps

Hi Zach,

Thank you very much for your message.

I am a bit in a mood of not knowingly what to do. It's my first article on Wikipedia, hoping to be able to contribute and I discovered an item that was so far not known on Wikipedia, thus I started the article USTC, United States Transportation Corps in the hope that if somebody knows more can add information to it to make it more complete.

My private situation has changed and I have barely time left for anything at all. I found trying to write an article for Wikipedia as enormously time consuming without much effective results and I wonder if there is something like a 10-step guide to add an article. I just don't have the time to read through tons of documents (of guidelines for Wikipedia as that's how it looks like to me) that costs me similar tons of hours to get through and to understand. I love to write, certainly as much as possible on facts based, however I feel the "brake" implemented on Wikipedia is enormous and doesn't encourage new people to write articles on Wikipedia.

I am sincerely sorry if this might sound pretty negative, it's just that I would love to contribute to Wikipedia but that I just don't know how to get properly started and even just communicating with those who leave a feedback I feel very difficult, I even don't know if this message ever will reach you.

So to stop consuming everybody's time & energy I decide to become yet again an inactive Wikipedia member, not writing articles for the moment being because the initial efforts to get an article published is just too enormously time consuming process that I just can't afford.

So I am sorry to have bothered you with my article and please have it removed since I just don't have the time to add any more energy and information to it.

Once Wikipedia becomes easier to access for starting writers in the future, I am certainly interested again. Till then, I am sorry to let you and Wikipedia know that I have to let this fantastic initiative (i.e. Wikipedia) go; it's over complicated in my opinion.

Thank you very much for your kind help and kind regards,

The vast majority of new users face a very steep learning curve. It's actually a huge topic of discussion among Wikipedia leaders, and a reason for declining numbers of volunteers. I started editing here when I was 9 (May 2007 to be exact, although this account wasn't created until 2011) and it wasn't until early 2012 when I started completely getting the jest of the rules. For reference,
this is the page to help users with their first article. It's really long for most, although it might be of help to you. And the amount of policies is just disturbing for newcomers. We don't really remove articles, as eventually someone comes along to improve it. Have you been using the VisualEditor? It's Wikimedia's new attempt to get new users to join the website. Also, by the way, If you come on my talk page, I will get both an email and text message notifying me, so yes, it definitely will reach me. It's sad to see you go, although this story is very common and is becoming a systemic problem within Wikipedia. If you ever have any questions, you can come and ask here. Willow Springs

Hi Zach, so we now have independent reliable sources as you requested, but the page got denied again with the same request. Can you give me more guidance for what you're looking for? We have sources from Poet & Writers, New Pages, Eastern Washington University, and the American Academy of Poets.

References are sometimes weird and don't go together properly. Look at the section called "References". The sources should be in there, but there's only one from the American Academy of Poets. You should put the sources as an inline citation like you did the Academy one. Zach Vega (talk to me) 02:49, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I don't understand why we would have an inline citation in the references section if it doesn't refer to anything. Yes, Poets & Writers has an entry for Willow Springs, but why would we "reference" that, instead of use it as an external source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dangruz (talkcontribs) 02:54, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You can't have unsourced sections within your article. How do I know that it was founded in 1977 or that Laura Kasischke, Gary Copeland Lilly, and Erin Belieu are notable contributors? That's why they need to be sourced in some way, to prove their verifiability. Zach Vega (talk to me) 10:37, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

APL Logistics Submission

Hi Zach, for APL Logistics, the amount of external sources to cite for the article are scarce and hard to source, and those are the only few external sources that can be found, short of using materials from the company's website. Could you advice me on this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Janice Powell (talkcontribs) 06:59, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Company profiles on websites like Inbound Logistics and Bloomberg BusinessWeek are most likely provided by the company themselves, as companies can easily submit information to these sources. Try to find third-party sources like news articles. Zach Vega (talk to me) 10:40, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article on Ivy Ross

Hi Zach, I saw that you declined my revised submission for an article on designer/executive Ivy Ross. I'm not sure why you rejected it, as it seems to be neutral in tone and all the references are 3rd party - none were created by the subject of the article. I was wondering if you could highlight the passages that were problematic so I might take a closer look and revise accordingly? There are a few other articles I have in mind as well, very similar to this one, so I'm hoping to get those ones right the first time (or determine if they are indeed worthy of inclusion). Many thanks for your help with this! Delcy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Delcydrew (talkcontribs) 09:15, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There's several promotional phrases, mostly just jargon, so it's easy to fix. They have been crossed out in the article. Zach Vega (talk to me) 10:57, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vegam Malayalam film

Hi Zach:

I got my article rejected again after re-submitting. The article got rejected earlier saying not enough references were included to establish the notability of the article. So, I have tried to add enough references to establish the notability of the subject.

Can you please help me understand what might have been the reason for rejection this time? As a side note, here is the list of external references I have included with the article.

After directing, Vineeth Kumar is back as an actor in 'Vegam' Vineeth's Vegam Is A Thriller! Govind Menon composes music for Vegam 'Vegam' into finale Sanskrithi to romance Vineeth Kumar 'Vegam' grabs a 'U' certifcate; all set for a June 20 release!

The thing is that you've said that it's a movie, it'll be released this month, and list the people who are in it. To establish notability, you need to state how the public is responding to it or what impact it has had. Zach Vega (talk to me) 22:49, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Willow Springs

I'm not sure your suggestion makes sense. I could cite NewPages for the creation in 1977, but that's just re-citing the magazine's own blurb. Nor is that the format followed by most serious wikipedia entries. For instance, the New Yorker cites it's own timeline when referencing its founding date, and does not provide third party sources for its list of notable contributors. The Paris Review also does not cite its creation in 1973. As to the contributors, if there is no third party cite but only the content entry at Willow Springs itself, are you saying notable contributors cannot be mentioned? Because again, that's in direct conflict to most literary magazine entries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dangruz (talkcontribs) 14:43, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That's probably because most literary articles on Wikipedia are in poor shape. The website itself cannot be sourced for the whole article, as that wouldn't prove notability. What do you mean by "notable contributors"? Zach Vega (talk to me) 22:53, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Teletrac

Hi Zach, I'm pretty new to article creation and I want to be able to make the best article possible. In the Draft:Teletrac submission, you declined stating that it appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Would you mind explaining what makes it seem like an advertisement? I believe most of the sources I cited were from independent published sources such as New York Times and OC Metro. I would love your input on how I can create better articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PaddyCake (talkcontribs) 22:05, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The sources are generally fine, however there's some promotional jargon - avoid words like "leading", "efficient", and "better". Zach Vega (talk to me) 22:55, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

EziBuy article

Hi Zach,

Thanks for taking a look at the draft post I put up for EziBuy. I understand your comments and suggestions, so have found a few more references which prove the notoriety of EziBuy (in New Zealand and Australia it's a household name).

None of these are press releases and they are published in reputable publications:

Before I add these references and resubmit I wanted to check with you please, am I on the right track? You mentioned in your comments that the article was a bit promotional - I could add some more information on the history of EziBuy?

Thanks for your time!

Willow Springs

So I'm trying to find some clarification on this and this is what I found: "Avoid declining an article because it correctly uses general references to support some or all of the material. The content and sourcing policies require inline citations for only four specific types of material, most commonly direct quotations and contentious material (whether negative, positive, or neutral) about living persons." Would it be possible to move this entry to another reviewer to get a second opinion? Because it would seem that instruction might apply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dangruz (talkcontribs) 03:41, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That would only work if I can find the article's information in the sources, and for 1/2 of the article's content, I can't. If you'd like to move the article to another reviewer, resubmit it and wait until someone comes along. Zach Vega (talk to me) 09:42, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Angelo Maristela

Hi Zach, I appreciate your comments with regard to my first article: Angelo Maristela. Please can you point out to me which "peacock term" I have used in the artictle. As far as I am aware, I only used neutral tone in the article, neither praising nor criticising the subject. As I am new in this, I actually based my article format from an existing one in Wikipedia, specifically "Osnat Tzadok". Please can you enlighten me specifically which part of my article is different. Thank you. :) A1unlimited (talk) 06:29, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Antonio Cassese Initiative

Hi Zach,

Thanks for your review of my article about the Antonio Cassese Initiative. You said the article looks like advertising, but I actually just described the aims, mandate and activities of the Initiative, taking as an inspiration the pages of the Aspen Institute, Brookings or Chatham House. I changed the wording a little bit, and added some external references. Do you have any suggestions as to how to improve the article enough for approval?

Thanks in advance. Ancoco095 (talk) 08:22, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest to remove the entire "Vision" section, or rewrite the entire thing. It's very promotional. Also, integrate the last four references into the article like you did the first four. Zach Vega (talk to me) 11:38, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Zach, I followed your suggestions and resubmitted the article.
You might've seen that the article got declined again by someone else. Make sure not to reference the Initiative's website more than needed (in most cases, this is zero). Right now, they're about 1/2 of the article's references. Zach Vega (talk to me) 21:39, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again. Where I could, I replaced all the references from the Initiative's website with references from external websites. Now I will change the language again, even though I guess I cannot do much.Ancoco095 (talk) 09:05, 11 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Victor A.(Beaude) Sahm III

Thanks for the feedback Zach, can you be more specific? I do not see where the input on Victor A.(Beaude) Sahm III requires the missing inline citation, yet you state there are several instances. The "Early Life and Education", "Philanthropy", and "Personal Life" sections don't have inline citations. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, look at the superscript [1], [2], and [3] in the article. If you look at the code, you'll see that there are references there. Do that for the other three sections. Zach Vega (talk to me) 21:29, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My name is Gia Ionesco and my manager, Sunnie Sun thought that it is a good idea to get an article about our work on Wikipedia... Personally, I'd say that I am trying to do a new type of music and one day I hope that my innovations in the world of music will be recognized... till then I try my best along with my wonderful team, way better individuals than me, in every way...

On another level, I must confess that we don't know how to build properly an article... for this amazing dictionary that is WIKIPEDIA... I use it almost all the time... I LOVE IT... I'd like to be a part of it...

So, with all due respect, please write me back, although I am certain that you are a very busy person, and advice us, better said, teach us, how to do a proper article and what references are the most respectful and reliable...

For example, my Masters in Music and Engineering : there are there as Diplomas... and are not on the Internet... just frames from twenty something years ago when I finished University, may I say, Universities... ... Advice, please...

It is a pleasure for me to contact a gentleman belonging to the team of wikipedia, one of my favourite sites on all over the internet...

Please be so kind and instruct us in proper way...

Thank you for taking your time to read our article...

If you would honour me with your dialogue, I'd be the most obliged, and here is my phone number... 1-905-883-5550... in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada... I am better speaking on the phone than typing on the computer...

I would like to be part of the wikipedia in the future... it is wonderful how people are sharing all sorts of amazing information together... high level of knowledge will make our planet a better place to be in the future...

Draft:Mojo (UK)

Hi Zach, thanks for reviewing this draft. My reason for creating the article was simply to complete disambiguation of the existing article on the Californian 1990s Mojo label (whose only reference is a broken web link!) and the overarching 'List of record labels' by providing an equivalent stub. In this specialised domain, I'd say the two Mojos are of similar notability.

In the domain of collectable UK soul 45s, ref 3 is a non-self-published authoritative source; it contains an article (subscription-only on the magazine's website, scanned into the 'See also' item "Mojo Records (polydor) forum discussion") whose content is recapitulated in refs 1 and 2. Ref 1 actually reproduces the labels of the records released by the label, which I would say are authoritative even if the site itself may be classed as self-published.

I don't believe further sources are necessary for a stub like this draft. However ref 2 could be moved into 'See also' if that would be more appropriate. On the other hand I think it meets the

WP:RS
criterion that a self-published reference "may sometimes be acceptable when its author is an established expert whose work in the relevant field has been published by reliable third-party publications". What do you think? Dirk

Draft on the Sustainable Energy Utility: Request for assistance

Dear Mr. Vega,

Thank you for your review of my draft article on the Sustainable Energy Utility (SEU) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sustainable_Energy_Utility_%28SEU%29).

I have since edited my contribution to Wikipedia in an attempt to more closely reflect Wikipedia style guidelines. However, I struggle with the reformulation of my article away from an essay style contribution and towards an article drafted with encyclopaedic writing style. I was hoping that you could potentially offer some examples of where in my draft the style is clearly in the wrong style and, hopefully, how it could be rewritten. That way, I'd have some practical examples on how to rewrite my draft in case my newest resubmission gets rejected again. I have tried to use the Wikipedia chat function but, unfortunately, to no avail.

I hope you can help me out. Kind regards, Energycommons — Preceding unsigned comment added by Energycommons (talkcontribs) 14:50, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zach........I posted an article of Traces Screen Printing Ltd. solely on its environmental stewardship and leading practices in the Region of Waterloo. Immediately, someone named Hell in a Handbasket (somewhat suitable it seems) placed a notation of the page that it appears to be written as an advertisement. Obviously, H in a H did not actually READ the article because it doesn't mention not one service or product the company produces. That was on purpose...it's not about that at all......it is all about how this company has made a difference for the environment by only using inks etc that won't harm it. Is there something that can be done about this notation on the page. It's insulting.

Lee Bannon

Hi Zach,

You recently rejected an article for musician Lee Bannon on the grounds that his notability was not sufficiently demonstrated. I'm unsure as to what else one would need to qualify, as a fairly wide variety of well-regarded, reliable, independent media outlets (ie Vice, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor) were cited within the article. Additionally, the coverage that was cited includes (among other things) an in-depth feature, an interview, and a signing announcement, all of which I believe qualifies as "significant coverage". Again, happy to revise, just unclear as to exactly what about the citations provided fails to meet notability criteria. Please advise?

My content does not violate any copyrights, and the information is verifiable as my references show.

All I include in my article is what they do as a company and a brief history including acquisitions, high-level executive changes and the comapnies acquisition by Hearst. In fact, the Hearst page has a links to a non-existent iCrossing page which just redirects back to the same Hearst page. This is not a user-friendly experience.

Please tell me what elements of the article sound like advertising. Is it the intro paragraph that describes what they do? Should this be more vague? Or is it a certain element in the history portion? If it is the history portion that is an issue can you please tell me which element should not be included.

Draft:Generation R

Hello Zach,

Thank you for reviewing the Generation R page I made. You noted that 'This submission's references do not adequately evidence the subject's notability'. I was wondering how I can improve the notability. I am trying to create an English Wikipedia page about Generation R, in the same way as the pages about Rotterdam Study and Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, because they are comparable population based cohort-studies. Could you explain to me why those two pages are correct accorindg the Wikipedia guidelines and why the Generation R page is not? Thank you very much.

Stub up for deletion - WeWorked

Hi Zach Vega, I created a stub article that I believe you approved about a month ago. I just got notice that it is nominated for deletion. I was just about to try to get more involved with Wikipedia. I was told it was extremely hard to make any kind of edits. Not sure you can do anything about the deletion, but take a look if you have a moment. The article is WeWorked. Navigating Wiki is so hard for newbies :) Any advice would be helpful for my next articles and edits. Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yu409 (talkcontribs) 00:39, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Zach. Thanks for taking the time to review the draft on Microweber! I appreciate your criticism.

Thus said, can you give me some more detailed input on how to better the article? I'm looking at different approved entries in the CMS niche like ImpressPages (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImpressPages) and Impress CMS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ImpressCMS). From what I see, especially in ImpressPages' case, the structure is almost identical, as are the website sources used (they are niche, technological websites like CMS Critic, CMS Report that have covered Microweber too). I'm a bit confused as to how should I edit the entry.

Thanks for your attention! Alex Xbadxapple (talk) 10:00, 10 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are two proposals at AFC in which you are mentioned

I invite you to participate in these discussions neither of which are intended to criticise you. I view your input as valuable here. I'm sorry there has been the need to criticise your reviewing at the June 2014 backlog drive and I hope very much you will get some benefit from the various comments about your work. Feedback on Andrew Maraniss article

Hi Zach - in June you provided feedback to an article I submitted on an author. Before I further edit the article, I wanted to get your feedback on if the following changes are on the right track or not. I'm not sure how to link to the reviewed page. Are you still able to access it?

Early Life section: Remove sentence to his mother's work (no reference available). Books: Remove the last two sentences on when he began researching the book (no reference available). Sportswriting: Remove much of this as there is no reference.

Why is the article being proposed for deletion?

The reason posted in this Article for deletion is wrong. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moustapha_Moctar_Belbi#Club_career The player has played in a fully professional league and one of the biggest leagues in the world Saudi Professional League. Please tell me what to do to stop the deletion.

New huggle 3.1 is going to be released soon

Hi Zach_Vega, we are to release a new major version of huggle, but we did receive almost no feedback from our beta testing team, which you are a part of (see https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members). It would be of a great help if you could download it (if you have windows, all you need to do is getting http://tools.wmflabs.org/huggle/files/huggle3.1.0beta.exe and putting it to a folder where you have installed huggle) and test it. You can always get a help with making it @ #huggle connect!

Major changes:

  • Multisite support - you can now log in to unlimited number of wikis in 1 huggle session and get a huge queue of all edits made to these wikis. This is good for smaller projects which gets overlooked often.
  • Ranged diffs - you can select multiple revisions and get a huge diff that display all changes done to them.
  • Fixes of most of bug reports we had so far

In case you found a bug, please report it to bugzilla: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/buglist.cgi?product=Huggle&list_id=147663 thank you! Petrb (talk) 10:17, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that this article has a single reference source, but it is not self-published.

While I am sure you see many self-serving articles published merely to promote a specific company or product, I took great pains to make sure that this article was neutral, using only material from the standard itself and avoiding promoting my company or our products. My sole objective is to provide a reference to the (new) term OPCI and a link to the defining national standard.

CSA (The Canadian Standards Association) is the official electrical safety standards body in Canada - much like Underwriters Laboratories (UL) in the USA and IEC in Europe. The OPCI standard was developed by a CSA committee (yes, including myself as a representative of my company, but also including competitors, independent third parties and employees of CSA) over a period of three years before being subjected to the voting process, approved and being published by CSA.

Since this article serves as a definition of a term from an official published national standard I believe a single reference may be acceptable.

By comparison there are Wikipedia articles which relate to published standards that include no reference at all (not ok), or only reference the standard itself.

[1] [2] [3] [4]

You can see that CSA is referenced on both the UL article and has its own article.

[5] [6]

If you feel that additional references are essential, and would not object to those references being to company websites and publications and inherently commercial in nature then I'll be happy to amend the article.

Regards, and thank you for volunteering your time to support Wikipedia.

Edits to article submission, "Bruce Mann, oncologist"

Hi, Zach -- thanks for your review of my proposed article on Bruce Mann (I'm slow to get back to this, after an international move). Glad you see he's indeed notable, and I tried to document this better for the resubmit. Even prominent scientists don't usually get newspaper coverage (unless they're in some controversial field like climate change); their prominence and fame shows up when their work is cited in academic or professional forums, or when they get flown around the world as invited speakers, so I added notes citing samples of these and also a prestigious award given to his work by the Australian Ministry of Health. I did add one newspaper article from the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) but the main thing is his professional credentials, so I hope these do the trick. Thanks! Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews Hello Zach Vega. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when

weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).[reply]

Please Assist - Abuse/Misuse of Wiki

Hey Zach,

I am having trouble with an editor. The wiki page is Hexagonal Water. The editor mcsly continues to edit, possibly automatically, this page with slanderous and misinformed information seemingly for his own sake. It does not give a valid representation as to the state of the current Science regarding this topic. It is merely discrediting, and most of his references are bogus.

For those who wish for an actual description of what Hexagonal Water is this is not helpful, useful or accurate.

I am currently seeking funding for a business that will make Hexagonal Structured Water and this wiki is one of the first things that potential funders will see. When most see "Marketing Scam" as in mcsly's definition they are surely put off.

There are now about 20 books and hundreds of papers by established (30+ years H20 molecular specialization) scientific researchers that shows the validity of molecular structuring effects in water as well as the numerous benefits on human and plant physiology. I have two pages of references that I would be happy to send you so you can see that this is a legitimate science. You can find some on Amazon books.

I am not sure as to your policy regarding those who monopolize post topics by continuing to reestablish their edits, and for those who misuse this informative environment for their own opinions but I need some help in stopping it. I have far more to contribute on this topic and would be happy to do so if it wasn't going to be repeatedly overwritten by this user.

Thank you for fixing this problem or directing me to someone who can.

Sincerely,

Jason Graves Hydration Technologies Jasonbg [email protected] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasonbg (talkcontribs) 15:24, 30 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Huggle message

Hey Zach_Vega! You are receiving this message because you are subscribed at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Huggle/Members#Beta_testers

I have recently launched a new downloads for beta testers that contains nightly builds of huggle, eg. versions that are built every day from our master branch and contains latest huggle. These builds are currently provided only for Windows and Ubuntu. You can find them here: http://huggle.wmflabs.org/builds/

Please keep in mind that these don't have any automatic updates and if you download and start using nightly build, you will need to update it yourself! So don't get yourself to running old version, it's possible to install both stable and nightly huggle, which is what I suggest.

Keep the bug reports coming to phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/maniphest/task/create/?projects=Huggle Many thanks! Petrb (talk) 10:05, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
