On 21 October 2013, ten days before his contract was set to expire, Minasyan resigned from the national team. He stated he had received several offers from abroad and wanted to discuss them. Minasyan thanked the Armenian fans, media and players, stating "It has been a great pleasure for me to work with them. Together we passed along a road which, I believe, was useful.
