There were 252 households, of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.0% were married couples living together, 10.3% had a female householder with no husband present, 11.5% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.1% were non-families. 27.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 13.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.12.[4]
The median age in the city was 39.5 years. 25.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 25.3% were from 25 to 44; 26.8% were from 45 to 64; and 15.6% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 52.0% male and 48.0% female.[4]
2000 census
As of the census of 2000, there were 717 people, 265 households, and 191 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,318.7 inhabitants per square mile (509.2/km2). There were 280 housing units at an average density of 515.0 per square mile (198.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 83.40% White, 3.35% Native American, 10.88% from other races, and 2.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 15.76% of the population.[4]
There were 265 households, out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.3% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.9% were non-families. 25.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.18.[4]
In the city, the population was spread out, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females, there were 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.[4]
The median income for a household in the city was $36,905, and the median income for a family was $39,063. Males had a median income of $25,682 versus $21,625 for females. The
