Delete all I like the sound of some of these events - Women's weapons; Men's cudgel; Women's Youth Laser Radial;&c. But I agree with the nomination that these pages are too detailed and statistical in nature. The summary level articles such as

This is just a bit lazy. Oppose. – It may well be that most of "this stuff" is overly detailed and better covered at the summary level, so you're probably 95% right, but that doesn't quite cover deleting all of the 180-odd pages on the copy'n'paste list suppplied by the nominator.

For a start, it's not relevant whether the summary level articles "have any evidence that this stuff is notable" or not. Notabilty is a function of the subject regardless of the adequacy of the article. There are numerous secondary sources to be found about

Gymnastics at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games for example. Here's one that piqued some interest :) .... Thousands back gymnast in 'genitalia' row at SEA Games

More to the point, though, sufficient secondary sources exist for the SEA Games team sports tournaments:

Actual policy such as
WP:NOTSTATBOOK doesn't preclude sports statistics or listing players' names. Otherwise there wouldn't a 30,000-character page listing players in a Football Draft from 75 years ago or a 20,000-character page listing 100 English Football
match results from that same era.

It comes down to basic questions such as whether the subject is notable and (if so) whether it makes sense to be on it's own page or merged into another article. Separate men's and women's tournament pages have been commonly used for team sports at multi-sport events. Is there a consensus now to merge these pages? The difference between having one page or two is minor — what I oppose is a blanket "Delete all" of the contents.

WP:NOTSTATBOOK

goes to excessive or indiscriminate listing of statistics. A few dozen match results is hardly that.

In terms of notability, these are tournaments for national teams which generate significant independent coverage within the region. Foreign media outlets also cover these events, as in this story about calls for gender testing in the Southeast Asian Games women's volleyball tournament.

Delete: what information is not already in the relevant subsection can be merged without losing anything. I would even nominate those subsection (for example Syncronised swimming etc) if they don't achieve standalone notability. A very quick google search on the basketball tournament generated a few links, there's quite a large english press in the region so if it's not possible to find non-primary sources it shouldn't be listed in my opinion. --ArmstrongJulian (talk) 22:42, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Point of order: By the way I'm reading "These can all be handled in the main articles", this means it's not really a "delete" vote, where everything would be gone, but a "merge" vote to put all of the information to main <sports> in the Southeast Asian Games article. PRehse is correct. The medal winners are summarized in the main article, and honestly, that's all that's needed for this level of competition. Dates/times of specific events and the name of that one guy who earned 394th place aren't necessary. Floorball at the 2015 Southeast Asian Games has very little information (3,535 bytes), as have the men's and women's tournament articles (<10KB). I don't think there is potential for extensive expansion on the information already there (maybe just some brief game descriptions). The additional Men/Women tournament bifurcations actually make this information more difficult to read as it could easily be done so on one page. I think we should merge all the above articles in the most appropriate way (i.e. to the main article when little information, to a " – Results" article if that would disrupt the readability of the main. Keep some of the articles (particularly the team sports pages). I created some of them and just don't want all my efforts deleted. Just kidding, basically I don't think all of them should be deleted. Sports like badminton, basketball, volleyball, swimming, water polo, athletics, tennis were quite notable and already have some sort of "history" in the Games. Also, I feel that wushu, canoeing, and rowing results can be merged with the respective main page(s) or deleted if necessary. SFB's idea is also quite good in handling these kind of results. Comment I think the whole thing should be withdrawn, with an RfC raised to establish which of these type of multi-sport/multi-country games should have detail down to this level. Keep all the information, if necessary by merging. Where articles will be too long after merging (for instance table tennis, badminton, tennis) please keep the current situation. For very short articles merging would be a way to go. Also look at the way the sports are doing it in other games like Olympics or PanAm Games. @BU Rob13: I think point #3 linked through NOTSTATSBOOK actually provides a good basis for merging to a single results page per sport (the Presidential article examples are a very good parallel). Once contextualised with a bit more prose, this type of information clearly passes that threshold. On that reading, arguably the issue is over the standard of prose in the above articles and less so that these statistics are indiscriminate, sprawling or unreadable (I certainly don't find that the case). Comment I understand the sentiment behind this mass nomination, but I think it should have been broken up into smaller chunks. I would make the general comment that, unless an unusual amount of coverage can be shown, I would recommend all individual event articles be deleted. I think one article per sport can probably be justified. I think it's also important to remember that these aren't even a continental games we're talking about.
