Zhaofeng Li 2

Zhaofeng Li (talk · contribs · count) I've been an editor for 2 years and this is my second editor review here. My last one was in 2012 and I want to know what others think of my edits now. Thanks for your comments! Zhaofeng Li [talk... contribs...] 15:19, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. What are your primary contributions to Wikipedia? Are there any about which you are particularly pleased? Why?
I'm a WikiGnome here, and my edits here are mostly clean-up work such as vandal-fighting, copyediting and new page patrolling. I've also created some articles, including
    Qing Hui Yuan and Koding
    .
  2. Have you been in editing disputes or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future? If you have never been in an editing dispute, explain how you would respond to one.
I've been in an (ongoing) editing dispute (or just a normal disagreement, it's not that serious) on Android (operating system) about the screenshots. It's been quite well, and we are having productive discussions. If I have a editing dispute in the future, I'll be calm and talk to the involved editors, so that the dispute can be solved and consensus may be reached.
  3. What do you want to get out of this editor review? Are you thinking of running for adminship? Would you like feedback on a specific area of your editing? Or would you just like a general review of your edits?
I want to know what other editors think of my overall edits so I'd like a general review of my editing. I also want to know what can I do to improve my WikiCareer. I'm not planning for adminship now, as it's still early and I'm not ready for this. Negative comments are welcome.

Reviews

Overall I think your edits are well done and helpful. What I liked about your edits is that you usually leave a comment that is very descriptive of what you did. What you could improve on is that when you revert people sometimes you do not state what they did wrong or state that it was vandalism when it was. I see that sometimes you post on people's user pages on why you reverted them, but you should do that more consistently and put vandalism templates if applicable. This would be helpful to other users and get rid of vandals. Also I noticed that in your past you used to do these things, but you stopped recently. I think you should try to be more consistent overall. I like the way you handle conflict in Android because you made you points clear with listing them out and had a logical reason behind them. You did not attack anyone and only stated facts, which is a good thing. This will be a useful skill if you decide to become a admin.

I see from your user page that you like to code, so maybe you would like to do some coding in Wikipedia. For example, you could maybe make a bot that checks for vandalism or work on

MOS:TITLE fits with that edit and I feel that Work may not be the best title for that section. Overall I think you are a very good editor. Keep up the good work and thank you for your contributions. Mackey23 (talk) 06:04, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply

Comments

Thanks a lot for the review, Mackey23! I'm busy studying at the moment, and that's the reason of the decline of my on-wiki activity - I will continue editing when I have time. I've also been trying to focus more on content creation rather than on various behind-the-scene work. About the

MOS:HEAD (More specifically the "Headings should not contain questions" part) which discourages headings like How braces work in the previous version. I admit that Work may not be the best heading for that section, though. I'm quite interested in coding on Wikipedia, and I'll dig into that later sometime. Thanks again for your comments!
