FUR says it is to "serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the work in question." but it doesn't. Jonteemil (talk) 15:19, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A higher resolution version could be found on another website prior to the upload to Wikipedia. Although the other image appears to be a crop, the local upload's small size and lack of metadata casts doubt on the uploader's authorship claim. Image is not used in any articles. Unconvinced that it belongs in either Michael Jackson, Thriller (album), or both. It might or might not belong in Thriller (song); I'm just unsure. Default to delete if no one objects. George Ho (talk) 23:39, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The problem here is use in multiple articles, something that I don't intend when uploading an audio clip. "Thriller" is such a famous song that it is worth keeping in Thriller (song), the other two could go. This shouldn't really be a deletion discussion.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 10:24, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Found out that the sample was removed from the song article by SNUGGUMS in 2015 for "fail[ing] NFCC." Wonder whether the removal was well justified. George Ho (talk) 13:45, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As of now, it has been restored to Thriller (song) and removed from Michael Jackson and Thriller (album), which is how it should be. I don't intend for non-free audio clips that I have uploaded to be used in multiple articles. The NFCC rationale fits best for Thriller (song) where there is extensive discussion of how the song was recorded.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 20:15, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep in song article since there is enough critical commentary there to justify its inclusion. Aspects (talk) 00:07, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
