If you want to know the technical details, not checking raw signature will make the MediaWiki (the software the place runs on) make your signature link to your userpage, nullifying any existing links by escaping the characters. Checking it prevents it from doing so. Any signature containing a link must be checked as raw, otherwise the links won't work (as they aren't supposed to).

The only problem with that is in a technical sense, the TOC isn't really scrollable, it's simple placed inside a table that is scrollable and smaller than the TOC itself. That's probably how people do it, though...

Hi,

I was trying to edit the article about "Gautama Buddha" but find no edit button or any other option that allows me to do that. All I was trying to edit was: Change the name of the country Buddha was born from 'India' to 'Nepal'.

Lumbini where Buddha was born was (ans is) part of Nepal. His father used to be the king of that small territory and that area has been part of Nepal ever since. Nepal never invaded any part of India. So it had been part of Nepal ever since. The place still IS in Nepal.

Could your Wiki team remove those errors about the place Buddha was born?

Does wikipedia offer a download of the format so that a company can start it's own "wiki language" for its own personal use? This means that a person could search for topics related to the company's business and get results that have been input by our staff?

You need a user name and password but not an email address to log in and access an account. But if you forgot your password and want a new one then you need access to an email address you have earlier registered to the account while you had access to it. What is your user name? Dear Sir

    I intend to write a "how To Book" regarding Horse Racing and how to place bets.

I intend to use Wikipedia Website for my research and to confirm my knowledge of the sport.

In some instances I would want to write, as an example, the recent Racing event "Triple Crown", identfify some common terms used to identify Quarter Horse, Tracks, racing schedules, etc.,.

Do I need an license to rewrite some of the information, into my book, that I may acquire from your Wikipedia website.

Also, a lot of the information is common knowledge, but been provided by "Equibase,NTRA, ESPN or other sporting websites to the Wikipedia Encycopedia.

Am I allowed to rewrite some of the information and in doing so would the information be considered violiation of the copywrite law.

All of the information these different websites sent in to Wikipedia say the same thing. If I need to acknowledge each and everyone, how do I capture that information, or can I just cite Wikipedia as it is proclaimed that the information is free and can be used. Do I need a GNU License. ≤≥

You don't need a license to rewrite information from Wikipedia. All our content is licensed under the GFDL, which means you can copy portions of Wikipedia freely, so long as:

• You attribute the author of the work (actually the three main authors)
• Any
  derivative works
  are licensed under the GFDL
• You provide a copy of the license (there's one at Wikipedia:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License)

If you want to know who visits the page, that's generally considered a breach of privacy rights. The Wikipedia servers do record the information (what IP address requests what article), but they don't give it out.

Can images from photobucket be uploaded? Photobucket's terms of use seems to explain that all public photos can be copied, modified, and distributed for any legal use. Why do you not say the same about flicr? There are wiki guidelines about uploading from flickr to check that the uploader has used the same camera for a series of images and other clues about the original work. So taking care to follow the same rules it should be equally possible to find the genuine images of work uploaded to photobucket intended by the actual creator of the work to be released for free use. If you can convincingly demonstrate that the photobucket user has the rights to the image (e.g. they took the picture), and your interpretation of their policies is correct, then go ahead and use it. Is it sensible to refuse legal questions? If someone loses money as a result of taking legal advice from a Wikipedia article, who is responsible? Does the same not apply to talk pages? If your old account has edited pages and you remember which then you can click "history" on those pages and look for your account name. • If you want to add an existing image to an article, type [[Image:File name.jpg|right|Optional caption.]] to the article – replacing File name.jpg with the actual file name of the image, right with the alignment of the image on the page and Optional caption with the caption, which of course, is optional.
