Portal:Indigenous peoples of the Americas

Portal:Indigenous peoples of the Americas (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

As per my comments below, I think this portal should be renamed Portal:Indigenous peoples of Central and South America. that way, we dont have nesting portals, and content can go in either the NAM or C/SAM portals. I was working a bit on this portal, but will stop now that ive proposed this. if nothing changes with these 3 (including Portal:Aboriginal peoples in Canada and Portal:Indigenous peoples of North America mentioned below), i probably wont work on any of them any more. keep- not sure why these usefull portals are being nominated for deleted.....nominating the hard work of others is why we our having so many problems as of late. Great portal to navigate the topic at hand. Not sure why the editor above is threatening us that we must change content to keep the portals the projects have made. Best the above editors moves on to more productive activities. -- 11:36, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
My motivation came from having discovered some really poorly maintained portals. however, in my OCD-like desire to have fewer nonoverlapping portals, i completely neglected to recognize that this portal is directly tied to a wikiproject, and that both are active. The work alone in delinking hundreds of talk pages from this if renamed is enormous. I therefore Withdraw with extreme prejudice my suggestion, realizing that it was not well thought out. I will note that there arent that many links from article space to this portal. The hard work here is mostly on the part of the wikiproject people tagging talk pages of articles. the portal itself is not very well maintained, but that is NOT a reason for renaming at this point. I still think that nesting portals are a little silly if one of the nested portals covers about exactly half the contents of the larger portal. however, that problem cannot be addressed here by my silly proposal. im just glad i havent wasted many peoples time and effort in this discussion.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 15:06, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
