The result of the discussion was: delete . Reasonable consensus to delete both, although I'm willing to undelete P:Monarchy if anyone does want to maintain it. ♠PMC(talk) 21:36, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Portal:Monarchies is a mass creation automated junk portal by User:The Transhumanist and should be deleted on that basis. TTH also extensively edited the other portal [1] proving one person can not manage thousands of portals very well. Normally a redirect would solve this duplicate creation, but...

Portal:Monarchy has existed for over 10 years and is ridiculously out of date. It's been categorized in Category:Portals needing attention since June 2018 [2] . The Web Resources section is a redlink, but the real problems are on Portal:Monarchy/Monarchies today where the Ruler of Malaysia is two years out of date, and most of the Governor Generals of Commonwealth realms are now out of date. I can't quite figure out how to edit the page (hard to edit is another problem with portals) but I found one of the first linked people has been out of office since 2014 so overall the page is at least 5 years out of date and the traffic is so low it took 4 years before some noticed enough to apply a cleanup category. Lucky for the page Kings and Queens don't change that often, but holding this info in a portal is a disaster. In mainspace this page would be updated within days of a change of any officeholder listed, and for the rulers likely within minutes.

  • Delete - Monarchies as duplicating Monarchy, and Monarchy as not maintained. But why was Portal:Monarchies created? The answer to this question may determine whether I !vote Delete 97% of the time or 99.7% of the time. Robert McClenon (talk) 21:48, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both with same rationale as Robert. —pythoncoder (talk | contribs) 22:02, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - An automated portal, created 2018-09-17T08:38:07Z, only worth of an automated deletion. Pldx1 (talk) 14:23, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Portal:Monarchies; keep Portal:Monarchy for now.
WP:CONTENTFORK of the head article monarchy. Readers don't want it: only got 86 pageviews
in the first 3 months of 2019.
However, Portal:Monarchy is a very different case. It dates back to 2008, and has not been automated. It still gets only 25 pageviews per day, but Monarchy is a level 3 vital article, so it need separate scrutiny. The decision o whether to keep it should not be jumbled up in a discussion about TTH's driveby spam. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 00:10, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I put a lot of effort into disecting the old portal issues. It is being discussed along side but separately from the TTH creation. No need to try and derail the discussion. We also have
Portal:Royalty and other overlapping topics. Legacypac (talk) 00:26, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply

@Legacypac, a little AGF please. I am not trying to derail the discussion. I am expressing my view that despite your good description of the deficiencies of the older, manual portal, the deletion of of a level-3 VA portal should be considered separately from the duplicative drive-by portalspam. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:19, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Portals are supposed to be about topics that attract editor interest. This old portal fails to do that as shown above. Vital articles is a good judge to decide if a portal meets the importance part of POG but a vital article designation does not meen the title is a vital portal.
