Suspected sockpuppets

All these editors are spamming a large number of links - I am still busy in the process of identifying more (but I hope that some sleepers can be identified). I am not providing diffs - the list of contribs and some examples from that will show their common MO, I could practically add all of the diffs to this.

I am calling this 'Dee82' - the oldest spamming account I have identified until now - I realise that Dee82 and Innomad are long stale.

Dee82 and Innomad started on the 26th of March, 2006. And the last editors were active in the last months. There is however a large gap between 27-01-2010 until 13-09-2012. End of 2009 / beginning of 2010 was the time that CBROnline sites were blacklisted, a site related to this.

Noting that for some of the below reports, there are recurring editors whose behaviour is not as obvious spamming as for the above accounts, but who appear through the different reports in utterly unrelated subjects:

  • Special:Contributions/Stephendavion added aerospace-technology.com, army-technology.com, worldcruise-network.com, hotelmanagement-network.com and naval-technology.com - - links all belonging to Kable/CBROnline, but the range of subjects shows a seemingly wide field of interest for one editor (I made a similar evaluation below for the 2009/2010 CBROnline spammers).
  • Special:Contributions/182.73.13.118 (most of the edits fall outside of the linkreports below) shows an interest in Mining, Army, Railway, Airports ..

(I do note that spammers sometimes behave as 'regulars' - editing normally but with a background aim of spamming, maybe that is why they appear in multiple link-reports while not appearing to be spammers).

relation to CBRonline

Links to several CBRonline sites were blacklisted in the end of 2009/beginning of 2010. It involved a long-term pushing of links on a large scale - the company likely uses SEO techniques to spam their sites. Some reports:

the users mentioned there may be of interest here:

  • relation between the two:
    • "airforce-technology.com is a product of Kable. Copyright 2014 Kable, a trading division of Kable Intelligence Limited"
  • kable.co.uk:
    • "©2013 Kable Business Intelligence Limited. John Carpenter House, 7 Carmelite Street, London, EC4Y 0BS"
  • cbronline.com/about-us:
    • "© CBR 2013 | Part of Progressive Digital Media Group Plc."
    • progressivedigitalmedia.com:
    • "Progressive Digital Media Group PLC © 2012 | John Carpenter House, 7 Carmelite Street, London, EC4Y 0BS"
