Template:Str rightmost

The result of the discussion was redirect to Template:Str rightc. Redirecting seems like the least work, but if someone wants to replace the remaining uses, I would be happy to delete it instead. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 17:18, 26 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is redundant to Template:Str rightc, which does the same thing and takes the same arguments (plus one additional optional argument). It also seems to be transcluded almost exclusively on user talk pages (and some user pages) due to a welcome template that was substituted messily, in the form below (where the pages literally have "{{{art}}}" on them).

I think there are two reasonable things we could do with it:

  1. Redirect to Template:Str rightc, which should work fine as that template takes the same arguments, plus one optional third argument.
  2. Subst and delete, since the original intent on all the talkpage usage was to be substituted, and if that was now substituted there would be essentially no remaining usage.

My "vote" is for subst and delete but either option would effectively get rid of a redundant template. User:GKFXtalk 17:43, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Fix, replace and either delete or redirect per explanation. All incorrect substitution usages should be removed and not simply redirected. If the remaining usages are few, then replace with {{Str rightc}} and delete. If not then redirect. That said, I find the code at {{Str rightmost}} better.     WP:TFD/H and there is some mention of bots that can remove templates by their operators specifying a regex. The expression is I think always or usually the same (I imagine there are some cases where the "art" parameter did get set to something) and evaluates to ".". So you would replace all instances of "{{#ifeq:{{str rightmost|{{{art}}}|1}}|.||.}}" with ".", and you'd then be down to a handful of sandboxes etc. User:GKFXtalk 23:00, 20 November 2021 (UTC)[reply

  • Comment wouldn't this only be used temporarily, since the image would either get a proper license or be deleted within a week.   • Keep - It should not be in continuous use because a proper license should be applied and the template is removed or the image gets deleted. Just because a template is not currently in use does not mean that it is never used. I arrived here because the template was used at File:GTB School Dakha.jpg. It might not be used by the time you read this because the image is not freely licensed and cannot be convert to fair use at the time I type this.
