  • Redirect to previously existing is fine for me. We also have {{Scrolling window}} that maybe also shouldn't exist, all it does is make the text inside the box "auto-transclude", which is a trivial and totally unnecessary difference, while missing the implementation in the template that either warns in mainspace or outputs no wrapper in mainspace... Oppose the templates don't do the same thing. {{both}} returns a truth value, while {{if both}} selects one of two values. Adding the {{both}} behavior to {{if both}} might cause unanticipated changes. I can't see its a subset. {{if both}} prints parameter three if parameter one and two are non-empty, otherwise, it prints parameter four. {{if empty}} prints the first non-empty parameter. ? {{If empty}} should be renamed - its a misleading name Christian75 (talk) 09:39, 11 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose merge. Given the already transpired snafu documented at VPT, I think we can expect unexpected side effects from merging these two oft transcluded templates, and the benefit does not seem to outweigh the cost, be it in errors or in editor time checking that every template transcluding one of these still functions as intended for each case.
