This shouldn't be humorous.

@Oshwah: Shouldn't this just include all pages deleted before they were notable, not just the amusing ones? (Actual articles only; things like the deletion of the Main Page don't count.) If press coverage talks about it in the future, maybe there'll be an article called something along the lines of "List of deleted Wikipedia pages about notable subjects prior to notability"? 207.81.187.41 (talk) 21:54, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There are thousands and thousands of Wikipedia articles that were deleted at some point before later becoming notable; you might be able to generate a query list of them, but it wouldn't be particularly interesting, especially since it'd contain false positives like accidental deletions. The purpose of this page is just to give us a nice chuckle, so it's good that it's curated. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 22:20, 28 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The simple point of this page is for humor. At the time, these article subjects were probably not notable when the article was deleted. Since then, those subjects have become very notable. The humor expressed on this page is to convey the pure irony that such article subjects were once regarded as non-notable, or an article where a
credible claim of significance wasn't established existed, or other reasons. Don't get hung up on it; half of being apart of Wikipedia, being a contributor here, and volunteering your time toward this project is being able to laugh, have fun, and enjoy what you're doing. Humor pages (in good spirit, of course) help to keep that importance alive. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:05, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply

Order

Part of the list uses chronological order, part of it uses reverse chronological order. Should there be a consistent order? Alfa-ketosav (talk) 17:02, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Non-deleted pages that were nominated for deletion in some way

Two items were removed from this list because the page was not actually deleted, but has unsuccessful AfD or PROD. In those two cases, the articles had a viable chance of deletion, as the page either did not completely establish notability or the subject was borderline notable. Should those articles be added back (as it was before they were definitely notable) and the page considered to include attempted deletions which had a good chance of succeeding, or should the remainder of such pages listed here be removed? Thanks for the ping. Including failed nominations feels like trying too hard to populate the list, and does not "in retrospect seem amusing". The consensus in the Kim Kardashian AfD was strongly to keep for example.—Alalch E. 11:48, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Crystal ball

I feel like articles created too early and founded entirely on speculation should not be included as they were not really deleted due to lack of notability. Aaron Liu (talk) 14:15, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
