Before starting a new article! - Notability is a concern that must be adhered to. See Wikipedia:Notability (music) for more information. |
I. | Use references. This is an encyclopedia, so remember to include a ==References== section listing websites, newspapers, articles, books and other sources you used to write the article. New articles and statements added to existing articles may be deleted if unreferenced or referenced poorly. See Wikipedia:References for more information.
|
II. | Use proper Wikipedia:Manual of Style (music) for more information.
|
III. | Use footnotes. Take advantage of the footnote ability Wikipedia has, instead of including html links inside the context include them as footnotes. See Wikipedia:Footnotes on how to use them.
|
IV. | Write a good lead. Be sure to write a Wikipedia:Lead section for more information.
|
V. | Stay on topic. Many articles are criticized for length; sticking to the subject matter helps eliminate this. See Wikipedia:The perfect article for more information. |
VI. | Keep it simple. Remember that the average reader should be able to comprehend the erudition. Although you should use a broad vocabulary of regular, non-technical terms, do not provide such a quantity of locutions as to impel those who aspire to derive serviceable information from the article to consult a dictionary. |
VII. | Use images if possible. Images enhance articles greatly, but only use them when they are necessary, and ensure that their copyright status has been specified and we are allowed to use it on Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:Images |
The Rolling Stones articles have been selected for the Wikipedia 0.8 release
Version 0.8 is a collection of Wikipedia articles selected by the Wikipedia 1.0 team for offline release on USB key, DVD and mobile phone. Articles were selected based on their assessed importance and quality, then article versions (revisionIDs) were chosen for trustworthiness (freedom from vandalism) using an adaptation of the WikiTrust algorithm.
We would like to ask you to review the The Rolling Stones articles and revisionIDs we have chosen. Selected articles are marked with a diamond symbol (♦) to the right of each article, and this symbol links to the selected version of each article. If you believe we have included or excluded articles inappropriately, please contact us at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8 with the details. You may wish to look at your WikiProject's articles with cleanup tags and try to improve any that need work; if you do, please give us the new revisionID at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.8. We would like to complete this consultation period by midnight UTC on Monday, October 11th.
We have greatly streamlined the process since the Version 0.7 release, so we aim to have the collection ready for distribution by the end of October, 2010. As a result, we are planning to distribute the collection much more widely, while continuing to work with groups such as One Laptop per Child and Wikipedia for Schools to extend the reach of Wikipedia worldwide. Please help us, with your WikiProject's feedback!

Discussion about British English v Us English usage.
Hi, There is a discussion at Talk:The Rolling Stones#The band has about the British usage of plural nouns, e.g. The Rolling Stones. Jezhotwells (talk) 00:27, 13 November 2010 (UTC)
Mixed Emotions
The song Mixed Emotions, i have a huge doubt about the year of it's release. I am sure this song was released in the late 70's, as i had a copy on 7" vinyl & it was in a lime green sleeve with a lime green label, i think it was about 1977. I am 100% sure of this, as i had quite a record collection & that song always stood out. I also bought the single that followed it, Miss You, which was released in 1978 & had a tongue on the label. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.22.149 (talk) 13:23, 4 December 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the official website has "Mixed Emotions" as a track from Steel Wheels, as does allmusic.com so I think you may have remembered wrong. Jezhotwells (talk) 16:39, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Announcement On with the Show
Before the intro of this song there´s a sound of a man making an announcement. In the middle of it, it sounds like: "In Falköping they remember themselves". I've been searching through the net for the lyrics of this song, but the announcement is not there, just the lyrics of the song. Can anybody help me? What does the man say? I live in Falköping, Sweden, see, and I write for Swedish Wikipedia. Lill-Ann (talk) 17:08, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
Comment on the WikiProject X proposal
Hello there! As you may already know, most WikiProjects here on Wikipedia struggle to stay active after they've been founded. I believe there is a lot of potential for WikiProjects to facilitate collaboration across subject areas, so I have submitted a grant proposal with the Wikimedia Foundation for the "WikiProject X" project. WikiProject X will study what makes WikiProjects succeed in retaining editors and then design a prototype WikiProject system that will recruit contributors to WikiProjects and help them run effectively. Please review the proposal here and leave feedback. If you have any questions, you can ask on the proposal page or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you for your time! (Also, sorry about the posting mistake earlier. If someone already moved my message to the talk page, feel free to remove this posting.) Harej (talk) 22:48, 1 October 2014 (UTC)
WikiProject X is live!
Hello everyone!
You may have received a message from me earlier asking you to comment on my WikiProject X proposal. The good news is that WikiProject X is now live! In our first phase, we are focusing on research. At this time, we are looking for people to share their experiences with WikiProjects: good, bad, or neutral. We are also looking for WikiProjects that may be interested in trying out new tools and layouts that will make participating easier and projects easier to maintain. If you or your WikiProject are interested, check us out! Note that this is an opt-in program; no WikiProject will be required to change anything against its wishes. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!
Note: To receive additional notifications about WikiProject X on this talk page, please add this page to Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Newsletter. Otherwise, this will be the last notification sent about WikiProject X.

Release dates for singles
I noticed that many of the articles for the Rolling Stones' singles, starting in the 1960s, have inaccurate US release dates. Does anyone know of a good reliable source for this information? Piriczki (talk) 19:32, 18 April 2016 (UTC)
