Woodside is a village in
Victoria, Australia. At the 2016 census, Woodside and the surrounding area had a population of 364.[1]
Until its demolition in 2015, the tallest construction of the southern hemisphere — the aerial mast of the
beach of the same name
.
A railway connected Woodside with the railhead of
Port Albert from 22 June 1923 until 25 May 1953.[3]
An Australian oil and gas company,
Woodside Petroleum
, is named after this area.
The Woodside Beach Hotel was recently reopened in 2022, after many years shut down. It was funded by an 11-person ownership group, headed by local AFL player Josh Dunkley.
