Woodville was first settled in 1870 with ties to the railroad and logging industry.^[6]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.77 square miles (4.58 km²), all of it land.^[7]

Woodville is located along Interstate 94, U.S. Highway 12, and County Roads B, BB, and D.
