Zgornji Porčič (pronounced

Styria. It is now included in the Drava Statistical Region.[2]

Name

The name Zgornji Porčič literally means 'upper Porčič', differentiating the settlement from neighboring

Stubenberg noble family that formerly stood in Spodnji Porčič, or to prehistoric fortifications. The Slovenian name Porčič may be derived from the German name as a diminutized hypocorism (Purg- > *Porgec > *Porgčič > Porčič).[3]

Religious heritage

A Neo-Gothic chapel in the village was built in the second half of the 19th century.[4]
