The 1857 New Hampshire gubernatorial election was held on March 10, 1857.[1]
Incumbent Know Nothing Governor Ralph Metcalf did not stand for re-election.
Republican nominee William Haile defeated Democratic nominee John S. Wells with 51.93% of the vote.

- ^ Some sources give the result as Haile 34,214, Wells 31,209, scattering 452.[10][11] The result given is taken from the New Hampshire Senate Journal.
- ^ Contemporary newspapers indicate that around 209 of the scattering votes were cast for Charles Brickett Haddock.[12][13][14]
