American Communist Party

The American Communist Party (ACP) is a decentralized and syncretic political party in the United States. It was founded on July 21, 2024, as a splinter group from the Communist Party USA (CPUSA).

History

Over the course of two years, from 2022 to 2024, several individuals joined the

Infrared founder Haz Al-Din.[3][4][5]

During the 32nd CPUSA National Convention in June 2024, the party passed "Resolution 5," supporting a united front against Donald Trump and fascism.[6] Members of the infiltration group who disapproved of this action split off in July 2024, declaring the American Communist Party (ACP). The ACP claimed that the CPUSA had betrayed the ideals of democratic centralism, calling them reactionary and betrayers of the working class due to their supposed support for the Democratic Party.[7][8][9]

The party's founders, which made up the Plenary Council, included Hinkle, Al-Din, and Christopher Helali, former leader of the Party of Communists USA (PCUSA). The ACP also said that twenty-nine clubs of the CPUSA had split and joined the ACP as well, though the CPUSA itself denied this and at least ten clubs denied signing the declaration.[10][11]

Hinkle was invited as an international observer to the 2024 Venezuelan presidential election that took place on July 28, 2024.[12] The ACP joined the World Anti-Imperialist Platform (WAP) in August of that same year.[13]

Ideology and platform

The ACP describes itself as a Marxist–Leninist political party, as evidenced by both its declaration and constitution.[7] However, the party neither explicitly calls for the abolition of capitalism or the establishment of socialism in either document. Both the CPUSA and the Communist Workers’ Platform USA have described the party as "National Bolsheviks."[11] Both Hinkle and Al-Din self-identify as MAGA communists.[4]

While the ACP's platform does call for the nationalization of large corporations, it also advocates for an end to "mass immigration," a right to refuse vaccines, a ban on genetically modified food, population exchanges, the creation of "people's militias," and the annexation of Canada.[9][14] The ACP also supports social conservatism, with Hinkle expressing on his social media that the ACP must "protect our youth from trans terrorists and propagandists." Al-Din also said that the party opposed a supposed "decline in basic masculine virtues" and the "effeminization" of men.[3]

Election results

As of March 2025, the ACP has only won a single local election. Co-founder and secretary Christopher Helali ran for high bailiff of Orange County. Vermont, a role unique to local governments in the state.[15]
