Ascurra is a

Welschtirol.[2] Hermann Blumenau (1819–1899) named the municipality after a point in Serra do Ibitirapé, Paraguay of the same name that was taken by the Brazilian Army during the Paraguayan War
in 1869.

Ascurra covers 110.901 km2 (42.819 sq mi), and has a population of 7,978 with a population density of 70 inhabitants per square kilometer.[2]
