Beard Meats Food

Adam Moran (born 8 July 1985), better known as BeardMeatsFood, is an English competitive eater and YouTuber from Leeds.^[2][3][4] According to Major League Eating, he is the top competitive eater from Europe, and he holds several food-related records.^[5] He is also a musician and has released several food-related parody songs that appeared on the UK music charts.^[5][6]

Moran is a former banker, and a Yorkshireman from

Moran started his YouTube channel in 2015, posting videos of him attempting food challenges. By 2018 he had 300,000 YouTube subscribers with his videos receiving a total of 41 million views, which allowed him to leave his job in finance and concentrate on his channel full-time.[10] The number of subscribers to his YouTube channel had reached over 4 million by 2024,^[11] with over 1.6 billion total video views.^[12] Each video received millions of views, many within a day of release.^[13][14][15]

Moran's YouTube channel generally features him travelling around the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe, the United States, and Canada to restaurants or other establishments that offer food challenges, and attempting to beat said challenges. Moran prepares for his challenge on the day by drinking around 4 litres of water in a minute so as to stretch his stomach without filling it up, but not drinking more since the practice can be dangerous in excess and result in death.^[16] Techniques he employed during the food challenge including eating protein before carbs such as bread to avoid the carbs absorbing water, eating as fast as possible in the first ten minutes, and limiting the amount of chewing.^[16]

In his videos, Moran frequently chats with the other patrons and waiting staff, often apologizing for his messy eating. He has a second "table cam" camera facing away from himself to record the reactions. In the final edit he also provides a sarcastic

Moran co-hosts the "Breaking Beard" podcast with Josh Gudgeon. This podcast is also available on YouTube in video format.[24]

Starting in 2020, Moran has released a song every December, in most of which a pop-punk song's lyrics are rewritten with a food theme. All the proceeds from the sales of downloads and streaming royalties are donated to the Stroke Association, a cause which is close to him since his father's death from a stroke. A music video is made for each of these songs, produced by his friend and Breaking Beard Podcast co-host Josh Gudgeon, who has also appeared in videos on the BeardMeatsFood YouTube channel.^[6]

On 18 December 2020, Moran joined the race for the Christmas number one. The single "Garlic Bread (I Think I'm in Love)" is a parody version of Mystery Jets' 2008 indie hit "Two Doors Down".^[6][25]

The following year, on 17 December 2021, he released the follow-up single "I Want Chicken Wings".^[26] The song is a parody of Canadian pop-punk band Simple Plan's "I'd Do Anything".^{[citation needed]}

On 16 December 2022, Moran's third single "I Got Cheesecake" was released.^[27] This one featured Adam performing a duet with his sister Jenna, who sometimes appears in his videos as "Sister Beard", parodying English band Creeper's song "Ghosts Over Calvary".^{[citation needed]}

In 2023, Moran explained that he wanted to stop making these songs, but the popularity of "I Got Cheesecake" and the amount of money it generated for charity compelled him to do it again, and, on 15 December, he released "Grab the Mince Pies", his take on the UK band My Awesome Compilation's song "Sirens".^[28]

Moran released another pop-punk song on 13 December 2024, entitled "Apple Pie". Unlike all the previous ones, this one was fully original, but he still regarded it as "daft" and "naff" in his social media postings upon announcing its release.^[29]
