The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.16.
In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.8% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.4% who were 65 years of age or older. Public education for elementary and secondary students is provided by the Bearden School District, which includes:

- Bearden High School, serving grades 7 through 12.

- Marion H. Crank, politician, born in Bearden in 1915
- Reverend Dr. James H. Cone (1938–2018), Father of Black Liberation Theology, distinguished professor of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York for 50 years, raised in Bearden, Arkansas.
- Dr. William C. Lindsey, internationally known expert in the field of Communication Sciences, a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Lifetime Fellow of the IEEE, born in Bearden in 1936.[6]
