Belgium Township was organized in 1880. A large share of the early settlers being natives of Belgium caused the name to be selected.[3]

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.5 square miles (95 km2), of which 36.4 square miles (94 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) (0.05%) is water.

There were 35 households, out of which 42.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.4% were married couples living together, 2.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.7% were non-families. 22.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
