"Gubernatorial" is a highly US-specific title. It was never used e.g. in the UK, even in the days when it did have a lot of governors in various parts of the world. PatGallacher (talk) 00:31, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

• Actually gubernatorial is a neutral Greco-Latin term, which happens to have originated in America for a change, but all the way back in 1734 (http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=gubernatorial&searchmode=none), when it still was entirely under (forms of British) colonial rule, so that must inevitably have been its primary use, which is generic, not specific to any linguistc or geographical area.
