The Almighty Ambrose Nation (abbreviated as the AAN) is an
History
The Almighty Ambrose Nation originated in the Near West Side community area on the South Side of Chicago, Illinois in the mid-1950s by primarily Italian-American and Mexican-American youths. Crazy Joe was the purported founder and leader of the original sets on Taylor Street before the gang relocated to 18th Street in the Pilsen neighborhood of the Lower West Side community area.
Almighty Family
In 1977, Ambrose incarcerated within the Illinois prison system established a tight knit alliance with another Chicago street gang, the Almighty Simon City Royal Nation. The Ambrose Nation was then inducted into the Almighty Family with the Almighty Simon City Royal Nation as their sponsor, giving the nation the prefix of Almighty to denote their allegiance to the Almighty Family.
Folks Nation
In 1978, the BGDN begin to splinter into three subsets; one of each being the Black Gangsters, Black Disciples and the Gangster Disciples, however Hoover (at the time incarcerated on murder charges) prevented it by quickly setting up an alliance of all street and prison gangs in his interest into one family.[3][4]
The alliance consisted of Gangster, Black, Lady, Satan, Maniac Latin, Spanish Gangster Disciples, Ambrose, the Two-Two Boys, Two Sixers, Simon City Royals, North Side Insane Popes, La Raza Nation, Spanish Cobras, Imperial Gangsters, Harrison Gents, and the Latin Eagles.

Operation Blue Water
In 2001, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Drug Enforcement Agency conducted an investigatory special operation on key Almighty Ambrose, specifically those involved in the manufacture, transportation and distribution of PCP, named "Operation Blue Water" by authorities.
Symbolism/colors
The predominant symbol of the Almighty Ambrose Nation consists of the Star of David, spear, spearhead, and knight.[5] The nation's colors are black and baby blue.
