    Naval career

    Lillicrap joined the

    Cape of Good Hope Station, with the rank of Commodore, in September 1821[2] and, after commanding the third-rate HMS Gloucester from October 1823 to March 1824, became Captain-Superintendent at Portsmouth in April 1830 before retiring in June 1833.[1] He was "promoted to the rank of Retired Rear Admiral of Her Majesty's Fleet" in 1846.[3]
