Phrynobatrachus sternfeldi is a species of

type locality, "Fort Crampel".[1][2] The specific name sternfeldi honours Richard Sternfeld, a German zoologist and herpetologist.[3] Common name Sternfeld's river frog has been coined for this species.[2][3]

There is no observations of this species after its discovery, and its ecology is essentially unknown.[1]
