The Rwanda mole-rat (Tachyoryctes splendens) is a species of

montane forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, arable land, pastureland, plantations
, rural gardens, and heavily degraded former forest.

Some taxonomic authorities consider it to be conspecific with the East African mole-rat.
