Sosnove (Ukrainian: Соснове; Russian: Сосновое) is a rural settlement (selyshche) in Kramatorsk Raion (district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about 119.8 kilometres (74.4 mi) north-northwest (NNW) of the centre of Donetsk city. It belongs to Lyman urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.
The settlement came under
and was regained by Ukrainian forces in September the same year.[3] The village was completely destroyed as a result of the war.[citation needed
]

Russian Telegram channels claimed that Russian forces seized Sosnove just north of Sviatohirsk and Brusivka, approximately 9km southwest of Lyman.

A Russian source claimed that Ukrainian forces expelled Russian forces from Sosnove on the north bank of the Siverskyi Donets River and are fortifying positions at the settlement. The source also reported that Russian forces may have pulled out from Studenok immediately west of Sosnove to avoid encirclement.
