According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 27.3 square miles (71 km²), of which 27.2 square miles (70 km²) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) (0.44%) is water.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,450 people, 570 households, and 431 families residing in the township. The population density was 46.0 inhabitants per square mile (17.8/km²). There were 734 housing units at an average density of 23.5/sq mi (9.1/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 95.9%

of any race were 2.7% of the population.
