Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga, (born December 29 1942, in Honduras, is archbishop of Teguciagalpa, Honduras.

He has been president of

ecumenical
movements in Honduras.

Maradiaga is relatively young and, therefore, not in the forefront of

John Paul II from being elected, but it is unlikely that the cardinals would want another 25-year pontificate
.

Maradiaga once said "Justice will have to be the agenda for the 21st century in all the countries of Latin America. Many times justice comes only for people who are rich. The poor have no right to have justice." He is perhaps best known for his staunch defense of the poor and his criticisms of capitalism. Voting for Oscar Andres Rodriguez Maradiaga would mean voting to emphasize the importance of social justice, one of the [[Vatican]'s top themes for the 21st century.

I miss references to his role in the Jubilee 2000 campaign. Does someone have reliable information? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.124.250.5 (talk) 15:28, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
