WTCC

The 1987 ATCC most certainly was NOT part of the WTCC. Additonally, neither the Bathurst 1000 nor Calder 500 were rounds of the 1987 ATCC. This information is completely false. --Falcadore 15:06, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merger

Started this up, because, I think essentially, I'd like to know why not do this. The 1987 Australian Manufacturers' Championship. Same events, same competitors but an additional title. Im thinking the details of the 1987 AMC could quite easily be merged into a paragraph of the 1987 ATCC article. Additionally because the AMC was seen as a subsidiary title, like for example the Constructors title in Formula One, which does not have thier own articles year to year.

Is there some aspect of the 1987 AMC which occurs outside of the 1987 ATCC? --Falcadore (talk) 11:11, 7 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On the face of it, yes, the 1987 AMC was just a secondary title contested concurrently with the 1987 ATCC. But unlike the F1 Constructors title, which has always been awarded on the results of the same races as the Drivers championship (excepting the Indy 500, 1958 to 1960), the AMC was only staged with the ATCC on three occasions, 1987, 1988 and 1989. Mainly for that reason I felt that it was better to have a stand alone page for each AMC rather than for all but three. GTHO (talk) 10:07, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That the title appears to have failed and was wound up three years after starting I would suggest is more of a reason to merge, ie, making it less notable rather than more so. Redirects and prominent paragraphing can still maintain a separate sense of identity, but racing on the same races is distinctly compelling merger reason I feel. --Falcadore (talk) 15:58, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I may have inadvertantly mislead you with my initial response. What I should have said was “of the twenty four times that the AMC has been run, only on three occasions has it been staged with the ATCC”. GTHO (talk) 00:23, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Closed as no consensus to merge. AIRcorn (talk) 06:01, 18 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
