No by-election yet

There is no by-election yet, Khan hasn't left parliament, the writ for by-election is yet to be issued and so notice of election published by the returning officer.

Yes, technically there isn't a by-election at this moment. But Sadiq Khan has announced that he will resign from the House of Commons, so it's likely that this by-election will be held. If Khan would take back his words for some reason and remain as MP, this page could be deleted. --Editor FIN (talk) 05:46, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Khan resigned on Monday 9 May. Now, issuing the writ and holding the by-election is only a matter of time. --Editor FIN (talk) 05:01, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Who is standing

Please don't add speculation of who might stand, it's of no value at all to this page, wait and when there are official candidates add them then. Thanks Govindaharihari (talk) 07:42, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No. We follow what reliable sources say. If we have reliable sources reporting something, it is entirely appropriate to add it before an official candidate list is ready. Bondegezou (talk) 09:34, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Before announcement of official candidates, it's noteworthy and interesting who are possible candidates, but sources should be reliable. --Editor FIN (talk) 04:04, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yes thanks for deleting Wikipedia geeks, Monster Raving Looney is confirmed as standing, as is the independent Bobby Smith as mentioned in his twitter page and so is George Galloway. May I suggest the people who delete things on here to go and get a real job instead of thinking that Wiki is a source of factual knowledge. It is not!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.151.47.183 (talk) 10:50, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Galloway - independent candidate

Galloway responded "sure" before confirming he would stand as an independent candidate. George Galloway hints he will contest Tooting by-election triggered by Sadiq Khan's resignation Govindaharihari (talk) 05:02, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Galloway has now indicated he won't stand, but I think there was enough media coverage that we could have a sentence on him. What do others think? Bondegezou (talk) 12:32, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe a short mention on his consideration and the reason of not standing could be added to the end of candidates section. As he is a well-known politician, that information may be worth noticing here. --Editor FIN (talk) 05:53, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, something like that was what I was thinking. Bondegezou (talk) 10:24, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
