I ran some original ammo (1950's or 1960's) over a chronograph out of an M82/29 revolver, and it clocked in at 610 fps, so a good 100 fps lower than that stated. I suspect the cited data comes from a 5" solid test barrel without a flash gap.
Also, this calibre was always loaded with black powder - I have never come across any solid information that states that any was loaded nitro, and I've not seen any in a collection or for sale. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.55.176.204 (talk) 12:54, 30 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
