Still a stub?

  • Should this article really still be labeled as a stub? I mean, there's not a whole lot more about the note A that can be said without becoming overly specific about meaningless connections. Shouldn't it be taken off the stub list?Kevin 02:35, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Insert the A 440 sound?

  • Maybe it would make sense to add the actual sound of an A 440? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.57.44.195 (talk) 00:05, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong Note?

This article says that A7 is a slightly lower note than C8, the highest note on a piano. I'm pretty sure thats wrong but I don't know a lot about pianos... Seems like it should be C7. --Monguin61 (talk) 17:05, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for name

I think the key piece of information missing from this, which I've been unable to find, is why this note is the start of the musical alphabet. The key of C major has no sharps or flats, and is therefore a natural rival for this role. Please forgive me if I'm breaking protocol by not filing this with some forum- but this is the place people who want to know are most likely to look. Can anybody help? Thanks in advance... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.243.222.200 (talk) 18:44, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

contra symbol

Does anyone know if the proper symbol is available? I'm using a pipe, but it's a bit long. The previous IPA symbol was incorrect and too short. — kwami (talk) 08:56, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Octaves: small, great, contra, sub-contra, und so weiter

Diff These octave names appear to be from the "German method" of octave nomenclature. See, for example:

In my opinion, this is uncontroversial common knowledge, and so does not need a footnoted source for inclusion in Wikipedia. __ Just plain Bill (talk) 19:29, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why???

Why did not they determine that the G4 would be 400 Hz? Not just better? (Note: I do not know English. I wrote by Google's automatic translation) 213.8.65.165 (talk) 15:34, 27 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
