Current status

Although the recently introduced (2018) Inverurie to Montrose service has been referred to as a "cross rail" service, I'm not sure if it is at all related to this Crossrail project which from what I can tell fizzled out after 2009. Old documents which I've added to the article suggested a 15 minute regular service however only a half-hourly service was implemented with some extra peak trains. Kintore railway station was reopened, but the other stations mentioned (Altens and Newtonhill) remain closed.
