Role of religion in the University

Satanists on Staff?

It currently claims the university has Satanists on staff. That looks like vandalism to me, but I cannot figure out which revision added that. I make a note of it here in hopes that somebody more familiar with the article can validate the claim.

Major addition required to this article

On August 13 2007, His Highness the Aga Khan announced a major expansion to the Aga Khan University in East Africa. Specifically, he inaugurated the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Aga Khan University (AKU-FHS) in Nairobi, Kenya. $250M has been committed to Kenya, and $700M has been committed to East Africa as a whole, for the expansion of the Aga Khan University in that region. Significant rewrite / reorg of this article

Previously this article had contained a jumble of content, most of which was relevant and valid, but lacked structure. I have sought to reorganize the content of this article and make it more readable while ensuring the article's credibility. I have maintained existing credible information, and built upon it. The primary sources have been the AKU website and the AKDN page on AKU. I have also tried to flag facts that require further citation. Separate listing of Notable Alumni, Professors and Staff?

Is this page the most appropriate place to list notable alumni, professors and staff? Other universities have listed notable persons in separate articles. For example, the Harvard University article has a section on Notable People that points to separate lists. This allows the Harvard University article to cleanly focus on the University while the lists focus on the people. Done. The list of alumni, professors and staff can be found here. It would be good to have someone write a paragraph in the alumni section of this article that highlights a handful of the most notable among these people. becoming a faculty at a US university is itself a big deal. so all of these alumni are special and to highlight one over the other makes little sense at this stage unless of course someone wins the nobel etc. besides, the rate at which these alumni are growing in the US academia is probably the fastest from south asia

Impact of AKU on society

Would it be valuable to include a section on the impact of the University on the societies in which it operates? Perhaps it is still too early to discuss the impact at its East African campuses, but certainly AKU has made significant contributions to Pakistan. For example, its role in the

2005 earthquake relief, its impact on the nursing profession, or quality of health issues in the katchi-abadis? Is there good source material out there that speaks to these issues? -- Aylahs (talk) 03:34, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply

Copyvio?

Copyvio

This article contains hundreds of words of copyvio -- some can be seen here. The page it was copied from is from 2004, and predates the creation of this article. Given the recent focus in SOPA on copyright, and whether wp is doing enough, it seems worth addressing. Given that the vast bulk of the article is unreferenced -- let alone referenced to an RS -- and we know that copyvio resides in the article, I'm challenging the unreferenced text, per

I consider myself a copyright hawk, and proud of it, but I prefer to use CSD for blatantly obvious cases, where there’s virtually nothing worth salvaging, and report to

Understood. No doubt, every single entry that is both a copyvio and which at the same time exists and is notable could -- even if wholly unreferenced -- be converted into a stub easily. I respect that approach, and see the logic in it, though at the same time I see varying approaches across the project. At the same time, where we have identified large chunks of copyvio, and in addition have large chunks of uncited material, I think we are in a red flag situation as to the uncited material. BTW -- do we have any sense as to how long the time is between a tagging for copyvio, and the review of the article? And am I correct in assuming that the tagging of the article as a suspected copyvio is the same as reporting it to wp:cp?--Epeefleche (talk) 22:04, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think we should go ahead and report it. The usual template blanks out the material so that readers cannot see the contents (unless they know how to access history). It takes a week or so for someone to look at it. I’ll go ahead and do that. As to your last question, I think the answer is no. If the suspected copy is found because the CorenSearchBot found a match, which normally occurs for new articles, that action will automatically log the article. I don’t think that simply tagging it as a potential G12 registers at CP.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 22:59, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect. Thanks. Is there a twinkle way to report it as you just did -- I've not done that before as best I can recall. As to tagging it, what I had seen on Twinkle were the tags for potentially unwanted content for "copypaste" (article appears to have been copied and pasted from a source) and "non-free" (article may contain excessive or improper use of copyrighted materials), but I didn't know whether articles so-tagged were acted on in any specific timeframe, or whether the tags just languished on the article for years the same way other tags (such as notability) and the articles tagged can survive years before someone turns to the issue.--Epeefleche (talk) 23:07, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scientific Research and Clinical Trials
